Today show hosts are Scott Cam's top pick for The Block

From Kyal and Kara, to Elyse and Josh, and let’s not forget Suzy Taylor, each season of The Block features some bold contestants that have audiences buzzing from premiere to finale.

While the five teams set to appear on the Channel Nine renovations show have already been confirmed ahead of Sunday night’s premiere, host Scott Cam can think of a few famous names that would be perfect for the series.

It seems comedians or breakfast TV show hosts come to mind for the Gold Logie winner, who has suggested Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, or even Today show presenters Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight.

“Oh, Hamish and Andy would be good fun, but I think they would be hopeless,” the 56-year-old laughs during an interview when asked by New Idea magazine about his ‘dream contestants’.

“Maybe Georgie Gardner and Deb Knight,” he then adds.

While Georgie and Deb are sticking to their breakfast hosting duties for now, Scott’s suggestion could be a producer’s casting dream for 2020.

Meanwhile this season features five pairs of home renovation enthusiasts, who will be working their magic on The Oslo hotel in Melbourne.

The Block Australia 2019 premieres on Sunday August 4 at 7pm on Channel Nine.
