The Bachelors' Felix 'couldn't care less' about online backlash: 'I'm fine'

The 27-year-old is arguably one of the series' most controversial Bachelors.

He’s caused plenty of controversy on this year’s season of The Bachelors with his candid remarks and questionable cocktail party decisions, but Felix Von Hofe has no concerns about what viewers have to say about him online.

The 27-year-old former professional basketballer, who is one of the show’s three leading men alongside Thomas Malucelli and Jed McIntosh, tells Yahoo Lifestyle he isn’t worried about the social media reaction to his appearance on the Channel 10 series because he understands how reality TV works.

“To be honest, I couldn't care less what people say online,” he shares. “No one watches reality TV and sits there and says, ‘What a fantastic gentleman’. You want to pick faults and do that sort of stuff.

“I do the same thing when I watch TV and that’s just the nature of how people watch content these days. That’s why MAFS is so successful, people love all the craziness of that.”

Felix went on to say that while the online commentary has no effect on him personally, he hopes it doesn’t have an impact on his family.

“I understand how social media works and people just talk like that, whereas my parents and my grandmother and stuff like that don’t know that that’s how people react on Twitter and that’s what they tweet about,” he explains.

“So I think it's just other people reading negative comments that's a bit of a worry, but for myself I’m fine.”

'He's not Bachelor material'

Felix’s comments come shortly after former Bachelor contestant Florence Alexandra shared her honest opinion on the new season and the three leads.

“I think Thomas is the only classic proper Bachelor as we know it,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle. “I am very impressed with him. I think the reason why he's such a good Bachelor is that he has done the personal growth and he has done the work. His wild days are behind him, he knows who he is and he knows what he's looking for.

“When it comes to Jed, he is growing on me. I think he's a sweetheart… I think he is a little bit young and a little bit wounded, which is okay. No offence to Jed as a person but I wonder if he is at that stage in life where you're ready to do these kinds of things. I wonder if he has figured it all out yet. I don't think so.”

As for Felix, the Bachelor in Paradise star said she has no idea why producers cast him for the title role.

“No offence, he seems like a nice dude, he’s good-looking, but he's not Bachelor material,” she continued. “The things he's saying, it’s just super inappropriate if you ask me. For a Bachelor, you want someone like Thomas, someone who is a true gentleman. That's the whole concept.

“Felix would do better on MAFS... I think he picked the wrong show, or the wrong show picked him, so to say.”
