Sports Reporter Michelle Beadle Saw Her 'Entire Career Flash' After Accidentally Using Racial Slur on Live Show

"Don’t try to get me on that,” Beadle said after accidentally saying the N-word instead of "Nuggets" during an episode of 'Run It Back'

Michelle Beadle is speaking out after she accidentally said a racial slur while appearing to get tongue-tied during a live broadcast.

The sports reporter, 49, received some backlash online after accidentally saying the N-word instead of “Nuggets” while discussing a quote from a Denver Nuggets player during an episode of FanDuel's NBA show, Run It Back.

“Michael Porter Jr. recently said — aw, I don’t like this — that if the N-----,’” she said in a reposted clip of the live show, which has amassed more than 5 million views on X (formerly Twitter) since it was first shared on Saturday, Nov. 9.

After realizing what she had said, Beadle immediately corrected herself, turning to her co-hosts, Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams, and saying “the nuggets.”

In response, Parsons’ jaw dropped and he covered his mouth while Williams said, “Ooh, that was a good one.”

"Don’t try to get me on that,” Beadle added quickly before resuming the show — but Williams was still laughing so hard his head hit the table.

“Beadle, you gon’ be in trouble today,” he told her as she pushed back, telling her co-hosts, “That’s not fair!”

“That’s not even a thing. It’s not even a word,” she added as Parsons chimed in, “It sounded like it.”

Representatives for Beadle and FanDuel did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

As the clip from the broadcast gained traction online, Beadle commented about the moment on social media and attempted to clear the air.

On her Instagram Stories, she shared a short clip of her co-hosts' reactions during the broadcast, but with the original audio replaced by the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme song.

"The moment you say 'Nuggets' incorrectly on television and your entire career flashes... while your cohosts die,” the sports reporter wrote over the footage, tagging her co-hosts.

In an effort to make the embarrassing moment a teaching one as well, she added, “Broadcasting students: slow down. And enunciate."
