Princess Anne Changed Her Hair for the First Time in 5 Decades
The subtle transformation might make you do a double take.
The hardest-working royal in the business, Princess Anne (also known as the Princess Royal), took a little time for herself over the weekend, according to Hello! During an appearance at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at London's Royal Albert Hall, the royal's hair color looked much darker than usual, which may suggest that Anne indulged in a little me time and had her hair dyed. The change marks the first time she's updated her signature 'do—a classic French twist—in 50 years.
During her time as a working royal, Anne has had a singular hairstyle: a balletic updo. She's never deviated from the look, which goes all the way back to her teenage years. Though the color has shifted naturally over the years, this past weekend's change marks the first time that Anne has stepped out with a noticeable refresh to her hair. At the event, she was seen with dark, chocolate-colored hair and a deep berry-red lip color.
The 74-year-old mother of two arrived at Royal Albert Hall in a long, tailored black coat and printed scarf. She finished the look with loafers and dark pantyhose, as well as a traditional poppy brooch alongside a more glam pearl pin that is believed to have also been worn by Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother. The Spanish Royal Jewels Instagram account notes that the pin made a splash during the christening of Prince Michael of Kent in 1942. Anne also wore it back in July 2023.
Previously, Anne has embraced her gray hair, which was seen as she attended various appointments leading up to this month's Remembrance Day events.
