Move over Reese Witherspoon and Ava Phillippe—there's another pair of double take-inducing, mother-daughter lookalikes running around Hollywood, and they just made a rare appearance. Sofia Coppola and her 18-year-old daughter Romy Mars stepped out in New York City on February 3, and the resemblance is truly uncanny.

The mother-daughter duo was in New York attending the Marc Jacobs 2025 Runway Show at the New York Public Library. For the occasion, both kept their looks relatively simple—the Marie Antoinette director wore a beige coat speckled with black spots that resembled a cheetah print and paired the statement coat with black jeans and boots, while the teen wore a simple navy blue coat with a brown pleated skirt, sheer black tights, and navy blue ballet flats.

Mars—whose father is Thomas Mars, lead singer of French band Phoenix—notably went viral in 2023 for posting a TikTok of her making food amid being grounded. "I'm grounded because I tried to charter a helicopter from New York to Maryland on my dad's credit card because I wanted to have dinner with my camp friend," she told the camera. "I thought I would do this since I'm already grounded because my parents biggest rule is I'm not allowed to have any public social media accounts, here's why [holds up her father's Grammy award]. They don't want me to be a nepotism kid, but TikTok is not gonna make me famous so it doesn't really matter."

In August of 2023, Coppola revealed how she felt about her daughter going viral online for what people called "nepo baby behavior" and explained that her upbringing was much different. “We were raised to be so private, and social media is so the opposite of how I grew up,” Coppola said in a sit down with Priscilla Presley for The Hollywood Reporter. “So it was the best way for her to be rebellious.” On one hand, Coppola said she “got lots of compliments on her filmmaking. And comedy. She’s funny," but on the other hand, "people discussing my parenting publicly is not what I would’ve hoped for.”

Romy, however didn't seem too bothered by the discussion her video caused. "My peers thought it was dumb,” she said of the incident in a 2024 interview with W. “It wasn’t a big deal among my friends. Then my phone went ding-ding-ding-ding. It was crazy! I didn’t think it was going to blow up.” The budding singer said the viral video resulted in her having a “learning lesson,” and added that “it’s nice when people put me in my place a little.”
