Sinead O'Connor's heartbreaking final post before her death at 56
The Irish singer passed away on Wednesday.
Sinead O’Connor opened up about the pain she felt over losing her teenage son Shane to suicide in one of her final social media posts before her death at age 56.
The Irish music legend, whose family announced her passing in a statement on Wednesday, had responded to a tweet from an ‘inspirational quotes’ account last week that asked: “Tell me how your life is going with emojis”.
Sinead replied with 10 crying emojis on July 17, as well as the hashtag ‘lostmy17yrOldSonToSuicidein2022’.
“Been living as undead night creature since,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself and her son sharing a hug.
“He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.”

Sinead’s son Shane, whom she shared with fellow musician Donal Lunny, took his own life in January 2022 after escaping from an Irish hospital’s suicide watch ward.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer shared the sad news on social media at the time, tweeting: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
“May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”
Sinead's passing
