Madonna ignored symptoms for a month before shock hospitalisation

It comes following reports she was 'strenuously rehearsing' for her upcoming world tour.

Madonna reportedly ignored a month-long fever before being found unresponsive on Saturday.

According to TMZ, the 64-year-old had been experiencing a low-grade fever for weeks but ignored her symptoms and didn't see a doctor because she was 'laser focused' on rehearsing for her upcoming Celebration world tour.

Insiders told the website that Madonna's doctors believe the unreported fever was a sign of her 'serious bacterial infection', which worsened when it went untreated.

The source adds that the singer's doctors are worried that she will go against their requests to rest and will start her world tour as soon as she can.

"We've confirmed Madonna is back home after being released from the hospital... she was discharged Wednesday night and is recovering at her New York City residence."

The gossip site adds that while Madonna's manager Guy Oseary has stated that her health is improving, sources have suggested the infection is more serious than is being let on and only worsened due to her hectic rehearsal schedule.
