‘Severance’ Cast on Improvising Lines and Why John Turturro Is ‘Scared’ of Burt and Irving Fan Art
Ahead of the highly anticipated release of “Severance” Season 2, Adam Scott, Britt Lower, John Turturro and Zach Cherry joined Variety on camera to play a game of “Most Likely To.”
When asked about which cast member most resembles their innie, everybody pointed to Lower, who plays Helly. Scott said, “I don’t think any of us are super like our innies,” but admitted that Lower, like Helly, has “a spirit of rebellion.”

'Severance' Season 2 Is Surreal, Stylish and Worth the Wait: TV Review
Since “Severance” debuted in 2022, the three-year wait between seasons left many fans coming up with theories to explain the series’ looming mysteries — like what Lumon Industries, the company at the center of the show, actually does.
The cast all pointed to Cherry, who plays Dylan, as the person who spends the most time reading fan theories. “I think it’s just because I spend the most time online,” Cherry confessed.
Cherry mentioned that he has seen a lot of fan art with Turturro’s character, Irving, and his love interest, Burt, played by Christopher Walken. Some of the art pieces “are so shocking that I’m like, ‘Interesting, did we watch the same show?’ Or, they predict exactly what’s going to happen,” Cherry said.
Turturro said when he sees the fan art, “I get scared.”
When asked about who is most likely to binge an entire TV series, Scott and Cherry both bonded over being “‘Survivor’ heads,” while Turturro sticks with binging old movies. Both Cherry and Scott referenced Turturro as inspiring them to check out classics like “In the Mood for Love” and “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.”
Lower added that she has a list of “all of John’s recommendations, whether they be books or movies.”
While the entire cast has received praise for their performances in the Apple TV+ sci-fi series, Turturro and Walken’s on-screen chemistry apparently translates off screen, too. Turturro described Walken as the person who he laughs with most on set. “A lot of times, we will go over the dialogue and we start laughing about what we ate or something. It’s endless,” he said.
Season 2 of “Severance” premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, Jan. 17.
