Ellen DeGeneres Ditched Her Signature Blonde to Debut Salt and Pepper Gray Hair
New year, new color.
Ellen DeGeneres is turning over a new leaf. The former talk show host packed up and moved to England from the United States with wife Portia de Rossi in November—and now months later, the comedian made another major change with her hair.
DeGeneres is well known for her cropped, signature blonde highlighted hair, but was spotted on January 14 in Montecito, California with an updated look to her hair. DeGeneres wore a heather gray sweater that matched perfectly to the shade of her hair, which featured strands of several salt and pepper throughout. The television show host also kept her hair closely cropped to her head, with it swooping to the right in a slight bang.
The 66 year old completed her look with more outfit staples—a plain white crew neck T-shirt layered under the sweater, medium blue washed skinny jeans, white sneakers, and dark brown sunglasses.
DeGeneres's re-appearance in California comes after she and de Rossi moved to the town of Cotswolds, an affluent neighborhood in England that's a favorite of celebrities. "Ellen was in England house hunting in the beginning of October. She ended up finding a house that she loved and purchased it shortly after," a source told People of her and de Rossi's unexpected move.
Seeing the comedian out and about has been a rare occurrence since the canceling of her namesake talk show. In DeGeneres's July 2024 Netflix special, Ellen’s Last Stand…Up, she addressed being "kicked out of show business for being mean” and claimed “this is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”
