Awards season is upon us, but amid Oscar nominations and Golden Globe wins, the 2025 Sundance Film Festival grabs lots of attention for introducing us to some of the biggest upcoming films. This year’s festival—held once again in Park City, Utah—began on January 23 and concludes February 2, inviting high-profile Hollywood actors to toast independent cinema (and the fabulous after-parties that follow).
So far, the 2025 roster has highlighted Jimpa, starring John Lithgow as a late-blooming gay man and Olivia Colman as his daughter, while also spotlighting Juliette Lewis as a chair in the body-swap satire By Design. There’s also Twinless, a new work by writer and director James Sweeney (and starring Dylan O’Brien), as well as the music documentary Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius) from Oscar-winner Questlove. Oh, and we can’t forget Jennifer Lopez’s star turn in Kiss of the Spider Woman.
