SAS Australia's future 'unclear' after Ant Middleton promises new season
EXCLUSIVE: While Ant Middleton is optimistic the show will return, Yahoo Lifestyle understands that it may not air on Channel Seven.
The future of SAS Australia is still undecided after Ant Middleton addressed the rumours of the show being axed by Channel Seven at the 2024 Logies. Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Chief Instructor Ant exclusively confirmed the series would return in the near future, saying “Of course we’re coming back, SAS Australia’s gone nowhere. You’ve heard it from the horse’s mouth.
“We just need to make sure we’ve got the right cast, that we’ve got the right location, and with SAS Australia you can’t rush it. You can’t just go, ‘Right, we need to do it every year’, because it’s about getting things right, it’s about keeping it authentic and keeping it real and keeping it raw. We need the right cast, we need the right location, and we need the right production company on board.”
Now an industry source has told Yahoo Lifestyle that it's currently unclear if the show will stay with Channel Seven.

Yahoo Lifestyle understands the show is currently looking for a new cast, new location, and very potentially, a new network.
“The future of SAS Australia looks unclear as Channel Seven fumbles with a decision on its future," the source said, confirming that the show is "open for tender" and Seven may pass on it.

"Channel Seven may pass on SAS Australia.... location and casting is still unconfirmed and Ant wants some answers from executives," they continued.
“Ant isn’t ready to let this show go and has developed a very strong connection to our land Down Under. He doesn’t want the show to fail and has some new ideas in the tank.
“The show would be interesting in the hands of another network and hopefully SAS fans haven’t already seen it last season."
Ant Middleton names dream cast for SAS Australia return
At the 2024 Logies, Ant told Yahoo Lifestyle he already had people in mind for the next season of SAS, whenever that happens to be.
“James Stewart, Samantha Jade - she’s like a little pocket rocket. I can just envision her going zoom,” he details. “I’m always recruiting, everywhere I go. Especially at the Logies!
“It’s great because I’ll go to the CEO or the head commissioner of SAS and I’ll go, ‘What about this person? What about this person?’. And before you know it they’re stood in front of me in a quivering wreck and I’m like, ‘Right, I’ve got you now’," he joked.
