Sarah Michelle Gellar Just Addressed Those Jennifer Love Hewitt Feud Rumors
Fans thought she was being shady after a recent viral red carpet interview.
Contrary to what people may believe, there's no bad blood between Sarah Michelle Gellar and her former co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt.
In case you missed it, Gellar was asked by Extra if she knew whether or not Hewitt was returning for the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot at the New York premiere of her new TV series Dexter: Original Sin earlier this week. Seemingly taken aback by the question, the actress simply responded: "I have nothing to do with that," before walking away from the interview with a smile.
Fans viewed Gellar's reply as shady—especially considering those on-set feud rumors between the two that date all the way back to the original 1997 slasher film. However, Gellar set the record straight and addressed the viral red carpet moment on her Instagram Stories on Friday.
"Aspiring actors please note: this deer in the headlights reaction is perfect for when you are excited to see so many old friends in one project but have already stupidly forgotten what NDA means once this month," she wrote, referring to the behind-the-scenes photos she recently shared from the new I Know What You Did Last Summer set that she "got in a little bit of trouble" for posting.
Putting the drama aside, Hewitt announced that she is returning to the reboot on Instagram with a snapshot of herself looking into a mirror covered in sticky notes that read: "I Know What You Did Last Summer!" She wrote in the caption: "It’s never too late to go back. Julie James is returning. I know what you will be doing next summer!" Gellar reshared the post.
This week, Hewitt also responded to rumors of her alleged feud with Gellar—and whether or not she demanded her character Helen Shivers be killed off in the original movie—during the latest episode of the I've Never Said This Before podcast.
"I was 18. They were not taking script notes from me. All of us were in that experience together, you know, figuring it all out and everything. And I root for her and Freddie," she told host Tommy DiDario. "I think it’s the cutest thing in the world that they’ve been married for 100 years and have kids. It’s, like, adorable. So it’s just been really funny to see all of this stuff."
