Samantha Armytage's Sunrise jab before dividing viewers on FWAW

Fans shared their disappointment at her new role.

Farmer Wants A Wife switched things up this year by giving the hosting reigns to Samantha Armytage, replacing long-time presenter Natalie Gruzlewski, who will now serve as co-host.

Ahead of the season premiere on Monday night, Samantha spoke with TV Week, taking a little jab at Sunrise, where she worked from 2013 to 2021.

The presenter shared that she was nervous about leaving the show, saying, "It was a huge risk, absolutely – and I did worry about that."

"But I knew at that time that I had to make big changes for my own happiness and sanity. I also have several regrets about [moments] when I didn't stick up for myself. I've had time away now from that spotlight and I regret not standing up for myself more."

Samantha added she was "proud" of taking the risk of jumping into the "complete unknown".

The presenter is helping single farmers search for their happily ever after this year on Farmer Wants A Wife, with Samantha having found her own country man Richard Lavender, who she married in a secret ceremony on New Year's Eve 2020.

Unfortunately, Farmer Wants A Wife fans haven't loved the change to the show this year, with many questioning why Samantha and Natalie changed roles.

Many viewers took to social media, wishing for Natalie to come back to her role.

"No disrespect to Sam Armytage but there is only one host for #farmerau and that's Nat," one user said.

"What happened to Nat? She is like OG," another added.

"Did they kick Nat to the kerb cos Sam wanted the job?" a third questioned.

"Why is Sam Armytage hosting now? Can we do a #bringbacknat?" someone else added.

Others slammed the decision, claiming they would be "boycotting" the show until Natalie is back in the hosting position.

Natalie's role so far has been to interview past couples from the show. Sam joined the show as a guest host last year, but her minor role was expanded, while Natalie is "scaling back" her duties.
