Robert Irwin opens up about pressure to date: 'Gotta find someone'

Just over two years after marrying her husband Chandler Powell, Bindi Irwin is now putting pressure on her brother Robert to get out into the dating world and find someone special.

In a recent interview with E! News, the 18-year-old Wildlife Warrior revealed that Bindi is eager for him to be in a relationship so it takes the focus off of her and her love life.

“It's pretty funny because of course my sister has gotten married and had a kid and there's always a lot of rumours that go around,” he said. “‘Bindi's having a second kid’ or ‘they're having triplets.’

“There's always so many crazy things that happen, so Bindi always says, ‘Robert, it's your turn now. You gotta find someone to take the heat off me!’”

Robert, who was rumoured to be dating American actress Emmy Perry earlier this year, went on to say that he doesn’t have any “big scoop” about his current dating life but will “get there” eventually.

He also shared that he’s enjoying being a “crazy uncle” to his 19-month-old niece Grace Warrior, who he labelled as “the smartest member of the family”.

“She is just hitting all the milestones,” he gushed. “It's so surreal being an uncle. It's the most amazing thing. It's the best job I've ever had, that's for sure. She's just so full of energy. She's so determined. She's a focused and intelligent little kid.”

Robert’s polite rejection at Australia Zoo

Robert’s comments come shortly after he made headlines for ‘rejecting’ an American tourist after she boldly asked him for his phone number while visiting Australia Zoo.

In a video posted on TikTok back in June, which has since racked up over 15 million views, the woman gets Robert's attention and waves him over.

“I think you're so cool and I was wondering if I could have your number,” she said.

Robert then laughed at the request, admitting he was “very flattered”, and told her that the best way to get in contact with him was through his DMs on Instagram.

“Then my people can look at it and monitor it and see what comes through because my number's hit and miss,” he added.

She replied: “Oh my God this is so random but I actually DM'd you last night to tell you I was coming here today.”

The animal conservationist politely asked the woman for her name and said he would “look it up”, before giving her a thumbs up and walking away.
