“RHOSLC”'s Mary Cosby Reveals Rihanna Reached Out After Emotional Scene Discussing Son's Drug Addiction
"She reached out to us when the show aired and told us she loved us," Cosby said of the singer-turned-business mogul
Rihanna has once again proven to be the ultimate Bravo fan!
During a recent interview with Vulture, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby revealed who reached out to her after the show aired an emotional scene where her son, Robert Jr., admitted he was addicted to drugs. In addition to her castmates, Cosby said she even heard from famous singer-turned-business mogul Rihanna.
“I heard from all of [the cast] — I even heard from Britani [Bateman],” Cosby said. “Lisa [Barlow] was the only one that didn’t reach out, and that’s why I said I felt she’s kind of the person that is a little bit happy when other people are going through something. But everyone else and even other Housewives reached out to me. Even Rihanna reached out to me!"
“I was happy I did it after I received the way the people accepted it and loved it,” she continued.
Later, she shared that she actually heard from the iconic artist — who has expressed her love for The Real Housewives franchise in the past — two different times.
“She reached out to us when the show aired and told us she loved us,” Cosby explained. “And then on Christmas Day, she said, ‘Merry Christmas, and I love you and Robert Jr.’ I feel like if you can reach people of that caliber, you’re doing something right, you know what I mean?”
When the episode first aired, Cosby said she wasn’t sure of the response she would get from the public. Looking back, she is glad she and her son put their story out there for others to see.
“I’m actually doing great,” she said. “I’m getting a lot of love.”
Cosby added that one obstacle she faced was when Robert Jr. went to rehab and media outlets “were all threatening” to publish the news before she had shared it on the show.
“I thought to myself, ‘Well, go right ahead.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, we want your input,’” she recalled. “I’m like, ‘I’m not talking to you. I’m not saying anything.’ And when it aired and it did good, I was like, ‘Okay, what are you guys going to post now? Eat your heart out.’”

Since RHOSLC fans saw the intense conversation between the mother and son, Cosby has offered updates on how Robert Jr. is doing in his recovery. On a Dec. 4 episode of Watch What Happens Live, she told host Andy Cohen that things were going well.
"He did go to rehab. He stayed for a month," she said. "He completed it. He did an excellent job. He came out a new person."
Cosby noted that Robert Jr.'s wife Alexiana Cosby also went to rehab, and at the time, she was "still in there."
The proud mom continued, saying that her son "is doing so good. I am so proud of him. So proud of him."
