Rebel Wilson sparks debate with 'strange' act after welcoming baby

Rebel Wilson has sparked furious debate after she shared videos of her partying weeks after welcoming her new baby via a surrogate.

The footage showed the Senior Year star enjoying herself on the dancefloor with girlfriend Ramona Arguma and celebrity pals.

The video posted to Instagram came as PEOPLE reported the actress also attended Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday.

Last week Rebel announced the birth of her daughter Royce Lillian, who was born the week before by surrogate.

“I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle!” she wrote on Instagram.

“I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making… but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care.

In another post, the Pitch Perfect star claimed she was "crushing mumhood". Dressed in a black bikini, sunglasses and safari hat, the star shared a series of videos on her Instagram Stories assembling baby furniture.

"And 20 minutes later ... ta-da! Did it. Crushing mumhood," she wrote.

She said she had an "awesome" baby nanny recommended by James Corden, and had been learning to change nappies and feed the baby.

"It's been a total life change. I'm not looking my most glamorous," she said.

Rebel sparks debate with partying posts

After Rebel posted the video of her attending a wedding anniversary party hosted by Paris Hilton, fans flocked to the comments of the now-deleted post to criticise the star for being out celebrating after just welcoming her new bundle of joy.

"I wonder if the surrogate is out partying yet? I'm sure she is at home healing and waiting for milk to stop coming through," one wrote, according to Yahoo Life.

"Literally could not leave by babies for months and months after ... doesn't make sense to me," another added.

In comments obtained by 7 News, others said she would regret the post.

"I think she may regret this post in a few weeks/month's time," a comment added.

"I sure as heck wouldn't have left my newborn to go partying the week she was born! Whether I had birthed her myself or not is irrelevant!" somebody else said.

"Even if it was for an hour or so, it still seems a bit strange," a third responded.

Others however defended the star saying she deserved to take time for herself.

"Geez Louise, let's normalise new mums taking an hour or two for themselves," a comment read.

"Are mothers not allowed to let their hair down? Are mothers not allowed to take a break for their own self, their own soul? None of us have any idea what is going on in Rebel's life so don't think for one second that you have any right to judge," a fan said in support.
