Queen Camilla has revealed the illness that forced her to miss several events in recent weeks. During the Qatar state visit, she revealed to guests that her chest infection was actually a form of pneumonia.

Camilla is suffering from post-viral fatigue and will miss the outdoor events for the arrival of His Highness The Amir of Qatar and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher. It's understood that her condition was viral, not bacterial, and while she doesn't have pneumonia anymore, doctors have urged her to rest and take more time to recover from the fatigue.

A royal source told The Sun, "Some days the Queen is on really good form. It's just one of those things. She has lost the coughing but the lingering side of it is bouts of extreme tiredness.

"There has to be a degree of flex in the Queen's diary at the moment."

The temperatures in London were around 7˚ during the outdoor welcome of The Amir, with Camilla welcoming the guests inside the warmer surroundings of the Grand Hall.

It is unknown if Camilla will attend all the engagements during the State Visit.

Camilla first contracted the chest infection after returning home from her royal visit to Australia and Samoa.

She was forced to pull out of several events, including the Royal Variety Performance, the Gladiator II premiere, the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph and more.

While she wasn't taken to hospital with pneumonia, she has been facing bouts of extreme tiredness.

A palace spokesperson said last month, "Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.

"With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend's Remembrance events as normal.

"She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result."

While Kate Middleton will play a role during the Qatari State Visit, she will not attend every event as she and Prince William ensure she isn't pushing herself after battling and undisclosed type of cancer this year.

Kate and William welcomed His Highness The Amir and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher, at their residence, however, Kate will not attend the State Banquet at Buckingham Palace in order to save her energy for her Christmas carols service at Westminster Abbey on Friday.

Kate will attend the concert with William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as other members of the royal family.

It is expected that the concert will be extra special and poignant this year given Kate's cancer battle.
