Prince William and Prince Harry's feud continues to send shockwaves through the royal family, with some of the people most directly affected, like Kate Middleton, hoping that the brothers can eventually see eye to eye. But Princess Diana's family, the Spencers, wants the brothers to reconcile, too.

Last month, Harry and William attended the funeral service for Lord Fellowes—Diana's brother-in-law—at St. Mary's Church on August 28. While Harry and William didn't speak to each other or interact during the event, a member of the Spencer family sees it as a good sign that their feud isn't beyond repair.

“It was probably always going to be a funeral that brought the boys together under one roof, and the fact that William didn’t boycott it because Harry was going to be there has cast a glimmer of hope in an otherwise deeply depressing impasse," a friend of the Spencer family told The Daily Beast.

A large part of the reason why Harry and William made it out to the funeral, despite the headlines they likely knew their attendance would bring, is because they "adore" Robert Fellowes' widow and Diana's older sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, and it was "absolutely right that they were both there out of respect to her."

“It’s an important recognition of the fact that blood is thicker than water," the source added. "It’s a mature, promising sign that their private disagreements are not going be allowed to overshadow important family events.”

Both Harry and William value Lady Jane so much that she has the potential to be the one to bring them back together. “Harry is still very close to his mother’s family. If anyone can mediate between the brothers it will be Jane," a "friend and neighbor of the Spencers" told The Daily Beast.

The reconciliation hasn't only been on Lady Jane's back—the entire Spencer side of the family is rallying for the brothers to make amends. “Behind the scenes, the Spencers have been working hard to get the brothers to reconcile," the second source added. "They understand William’s hurt at Harry’s betrayal, but they also understand Harry’s position because of the way Diana was treated by the Windsors.”
