For those invested in a certain period crime TV drama, you better put on your seatbelts. Peaky Blinders is officially returning, and it's in a new form fans will be super excited about.

Back in 2013, the British series premiered on BBC Two in the U.K., and it later hit Netflix for American viewers to watch. Set in Birmingham after World War I, the show followed the Peaky Blinders gang and the inner workings involved in running the criminal organization. Headed by Thomas "Tommy" Shelby (portrayed by Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy), the drama also saw him navigating family dynamics, as some of his own flesh and blood were a part of the gang as well.

Peaky Blinders was definitely a success throughout its six-season run, and the final episode aired in April 2022. Since then, fans have had high hopes about a potential reboot... and Netflix has the perfect answer. Posting an Instagram photo of Cillian fully dressed in a period costume, the streamer followed up on their plans to film a spinoff movie, which was already confirmed back in June.

"By order of the Peaky Blinders... Tommy Shelby is back," read the official caption. "Cillian Murphy and Steven Knight are reunited on set as production officially starts on the upcoming Netflix film."

Given the loyal fanbase Peaky Blinders obtained over the years, fans were ecstatic about the show being revived in a brand-new way.

"OH WE ARE SO BACK," one person declared. "can't wait 🔥," another wrote. "Fine, I’ll restart Peaky for the 1000th time," a different viewer added.

Although details on the Peaky Blinders movie premise and other details are being kept under wraps, there are some key things to note. For one, Barry Keoghan is set to be in the film in what Variety dubbed as an undisclosed role. What's more, Netflix's Tudum added that Dune star Rebecca Ferguson and Pulp Fiction actor Tim Roth will be part of the cast, although their characters are also on the down-low for now.

No matter the case, Cillian is thrilled about stepping back into the world of the fan-favorite series once more.

"It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn't finished with me," he said in a statement back in June. "It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with [creator] Steven Knight and [director] Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."
