Yahoo Lifestyle All Of One Direction's Former Members Attend Liam Payne's Funeral
Former One Direction members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson attended Liam Payne’s funeral Wednesday near London.
Payne, who was also a part of the popular boy band, died Oct. 16 after falling from a third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31 years old.
Along with Payne’s former bandmates, his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, was also in attendance, as was Simon Cowell, the “X Factor” judge who put the band together in 2010 after all five boys auditioned for the show. Payne’s 7-year-old son, Bear, was also in attendance alongside Cheryl Cole, his mother and Payne’s ex-partner.
One day after Payne’s death, the One Direction Instagram account shared a statement from the remaining band members.
“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” the statement said. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.”
“But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly,” it continued. “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”
At the time of Payne’s death, a toxicology report found cocaine, crack cocaine, benzodiazepine, and a drug cocktail known as “pink cocaine” — a mixture that typically consists of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and other substances — in the singer’s system.
Earlier this month, three people were charged in an investigation into who provided the drugs to Payne.
