Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor enjoy mini “Moulin Rouge ”reunion on Golden Globes red carpet
The actors became screen kin again this year with McGregor's daughter Esther Rose playing Kidman's daughter in "Babygirl."
Satine and Christian forever.
Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor had a mini Moulin Rouge! reunion on the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes. "I hate to jump in the middle" Kidman murmured as she approached McGregor and wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead from behind while the couple were being interviewed.
Entertainment Tonight correspondent Rachel Smith exclaimed, "We're having a Moulin Rouge reunion!" while the costars kissed cheeks. "But actually Babygirl too," Kidman explained, "because his daughter is in Babygirl playing my daughter. It's all too weird and too small a world, right?"
McGregor affirmed that it was "great to see you Nicole" as the Oscar winner said "love you" to the couple and walked back onto the red carpet.
McGregor and Kidman appeared opposite as star-crossed lovers in Baz Luhrmann's sweeping jukebox musical in 2001. Kidman and McGregor were both honored with Golden Globe nominations for their performances as the ill-fated courtesan Satine and her lover, the Scottish poet Christian, respectively. Kidman took home the gold – her second after 1996's To Die For, while McGregor lost out to Gene Hackman in The Royal Tenenbaums.
Kidman is nominated tonight in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama category for her performance in Babygirl. She'll face off against venerable competition in the form of Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Angelina Jolie (Maria), Tilda Swinton (The Room Next Door), Fernanda Torres (I'm Still Here), and Kate Winslet (Lee).
Kidman, Winslet, and Jolie are all previous Globes winners, while Swinton has been nominated a total of five times, and both Torres and Anderson are celebrating their first nominations.
