Netflix's No. 1 movie 'Hot Frosty' has gone viral online: See the internet's reaction
As the holiday season ushers in new heart-warming rom-com movies, one in particular has people talking: "Hot Frosty."
The Netflix original movie is a romantic take on the "Frosty the Snowman" story, as a widow hopes to find love with a handsome snowman she accidentally brings to life.
Even lead actress Lacey Chabert thought the premise was a bit silly at a first glance, she said in an interview, but the movie has gone viral online after charming viewers. With a leading snowman played by a "Schitt's Creek" actor and nods to Chabert's famous role in "Mean Girls," many viewers are saying it hits just the right balance of silly and sentimental for a holiday movie.
It's been so popular, that it shot up to be the No. 1 movie on Netflix in its first week after release.

What is 'Hot Frosty' about?
In "Hot Frosty," Kathy (Lacey Chabert, AKA Gretchen from "Mean Girls") owns a diner and is grieving the loss of her husband. She is given a magical scarf, which she places on a manly, chiseled snowman, who comes to life as "Jack," played by Dustin Milligan, the actor who plays Ted in "Schitt's Creek."
The cast also includes Craig Robinson, who played Darryl in "The Office," Joe Lo Truglio who starred in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Reno 911!" and Chrishell Stause from "Selling Sunset."
After being brought to life, Jack learns about the world and sparks a romance with Kathy.
The conceit of HOT FROSTY - 'a woman falls in love with a sexy snowman come to life' - is exactly the right amount of insane for a Hallmark-style Christmas movie. Forget realism, character development, etc. Just give the people what they want, which is Mr. Tumnus but jacked. pic.twitter.com/LngmfmtsbU

The internet falls in love with 'UNHINGED' Christmas movie
Many people online are praising it for being the quintessential heart-warming romance for the holidays with an absurd premise.
"Hot Frosty on Netflix is the christmas movie shamelessness that I thoroughly encourage," one user wrote on X.
"watched hot frosty on netflix yesterday + the joy i felt from the sheer ridiculousness of it is everything i want in a holiday rom-com," another user wrote on X. "the fact we're all rooting for lacey to fall in love with a SNOWMAN is UNHINGED! 5 stars!"
Others loved the mention of other Netflix holiday movies like "Falling for Christmas" with Chabert's "Mean Girls" costar Lindsay Lohan.
TikTok reacts - Christmas movie or horror movie?
On TikTok, one woman showed her husband the movie without any context and he pointed out it had the early makings of a horror movie. He wasn't the only one.
"Hot Frosty: light-hearted holiday rom-com, or horror film? Let's discuss," posted one TikTok account.
But other TikTokers piled on the love, as one said in tears, "This is not your typical Christmas movie. Yes, it sounds ridiculous, and it is ridiculous and it knows it's ridiculous and it's so good."
