Mums applaud Kmart for detail in kids clothes: 'I love this so much'
It's been a long time coming.
Aussie mums are celebrating Kmart after the retailer launched a new, inclusive kids' clothing line. One mum shared her delight at finding her “dinosaur-loving” daughter a complete outfit adorned with the creatures in without having to shop in the boys' section.
The mum purchased her daughter a cute and colourful T-shirt and legging set covered with a rainbow dinosaur. “My 4-year-old daughter was thrilled to find Kmart accommodating to dinosaur-loving girls in the girls' clothes section! A shame there wasn’t anymore, though!” she wrote in a Facebook group.
The post was soon flooded with comments from dozens of others saying it was “about time” and calling for more girl's clothes with themes traditionally assigned to boys, like Minecraft and Lego. “Finally! My 3-year-old has loved dinosaurs since she was 1, and we just kept buying the boy’s clothes,” one mum agreed.
“This makes me so happy! My autistic 3-year-old daughter is obsessed with dinosaurs, and I’m sick of dressing her in boy’s clothes so she can wear dinos,” another excited mum wrote.
The new range includes a yellow dinosaur and rainbow T-shirt for $4.50, colourful dinosaur patterned leggings for $6 and a short-sleeve dress for $8.
Mums on a separate Facebook page also commended the move by Kmart, with one saying she “couldn’t heart this enough” and another saying the new clothes made her child beyond happy.

Mums of boys are now calling on the store to offer a similar shift with boy’s clothing, saying they would love to see more bright colours, rainbows, flowers and sequins in their clothing section.
“This is wonderful! I really wish they’d consider doing something similar in their boy’s range, catering to all interests. My five-year-old son absolutely loves rainbows and unicorns, and the boy’s section is full of cars, dinosaurs and trucks,” one mum pointed out.
For now, mums with sons welcomed the bright-coloured dinosaur-themed clothes, saying they were a 'breath of fresh air’ compared to the dark options usually available.
“My son loves dinos, rainbows and glitter. This is way better than anything in the boys section,” one mum wrote. Another agreed: “Ooh, my son would love these! So tired of black dinosaur stuff all the time!”
Another added: “My son wears those leggings all the time, and both he and his sister wear the shirt!”
Kmart isn’t the only store offering a range of dinosaur girl clothes. Some parents said they'd spotted similar styles in stores in budget retailers Big W and Best&Less.
“Big W also does girl's dinosaur clothes! I got my daughter some cute little bike shorts and a T-shirt,” one mum confirmed.
