It's almost the most wonderful time of the year, and people are starting to deck their halls with bows of holly, or whatever its Aussie equivalent would be. Gum leaves, maybe? Not sure, moving on.

While Christmas is a joyous time for many, it can also be very expensive once you've factored in meals, gifts, potential travel and decorations. It's no wonder so many shoppers are rushing to budget retailers like Kmart to stock up on holiday season essentials that look cute but are still affordable.

One such shopper and Aussie mum, Kayla, recently shared a great festive find with her followers on TikTok and although she inspired several of them to run to the budget retailer, she also unwittingly caused a debate that could not have been more Australian.

"Guys, is it just me, or is this a slay?" she said. "I just got this from Kmart. Giant door bow for $12, and this is what it looks like. I'm pretty sure I don't have Christmas blindness I think that's a slay there. I think we sleighed it, and I think my kids are going to love it."

The polyester bow is 68cm (H) x 44cm (W) and is designed to make your front door look like a huge Christmas present.

Kayla's front door definitely looks ready for the Yule Tide, but some of her followers were gobsmacked by a glaring omission in her home.

"No screen door? You even in Australia?" someone wrote on the video.

"But how do you even live in Australia without a fly screen door.. 😳 🪰," another inquired.

"Omg I KNOW! I am barely surviving," Kayla replied, adding elsewhere that she'd love a screen door thanks to all the flies.

If you do happen to have a screen door, don't be dissuaded from rushing off to Kmart to buy one of the bows, as a few people said they look just as cute when installed.

"Another girlie has said it looks great on their screen door! I’d say go for it," Kayla encouraged.

A big question that some people had was whether or not the bow was suitable for rental properties.

"Is it rental friendly I don’t want to ruin the door! But that is cute as," was one particular question.

"Some girlies were saying they don’t have cover over their door so scared the rain will make the colour stain so that might be a problem if you don’t have cover 🥲," was the reply.

After several people complained that the decoration didn't fit their door, or that it kept falling down, Kayla shared a tip.

"I just tightened mine by folding and sticking with little bits of blue tac, but others have safety pinned theirs 💕," she said.

She also shared a follow up video to demonstrate what the bow looks like on the inside of the door, in response to several people asking.

"Christmas on the outside, England flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 on the inside 😅," one person joked.

And then many others were just really into the idea of making their front doors look like a delivery from Santa's sleigh with comments like:

"It actually looks better than it does on the box."

"Instantly need 😂😂😂."

"I hate Christmas but you know what if you put this on my front door I might actually keep it there."

"Getting one thank you."

And, "Guess I’m going to Kmart."
