The countdown to Christmas is officially on, so it's a great time to start thinking about decorations and potentially turning your home into a festive wonderland! Whether you're on the hunt for the perfect tree or perhaps personalised stockings for each of your family members, there's plenty you can do to celebrate in style.

One Kmart shopper has seriously impressed her fellow customers with her incredible DIY skills - creating a magical Christmas display using several products from the retailer. The items used range from $4 to $10 and include a green garland, a battery-operated ceramic village and a white faux fur tree skirt.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle the shopper, Cheryl, said that she believes her gorgeous little set-up is something that anyone can do.

"I wanted something that was easy to put together, so as soon as I saw Kmart's new Christmas range come out I went in store and started brainstorming on where I’d be able to set up a little Christmas village," she said. "It’s something I’ve always wanted to do every year but never had the time."

She continued, "Pairing up the little white houses with a bit of greenery will create a nice contrast. People will need to cut the $12 white tree skirt from Kmart to make it look like a snowy road but it’s so easy to do."

For those keen to give the DIY a go themselves, Cheryl has shared a video to TikTok, to inspire others to let their creative juices flow.

"I’ve had so many people asking me where these cute little houses were from so thought I’d quickly share how we’ve set up our little Christmas village," she captioned video.

"@kmartaus has so many beautiful things at the moment, they’re all budget items but make such a beautiful feature on our entertainment unit 🥰."

To light up the small houses, Cheryl told Yahoo Lifestyle that she "used a $4 wire string light from Kmart and fed it through the bottom hole of each house to give it that magical effect with the lights. One pack was long enough for all the houses which was a massive saving."

While you probably don't need to spend this big to create a cute display, Cheryl says the whole setup, including the Kmart and IKEA products, was "roughly $300".

Starting with a $10 Green Garland, and a $12 Faux Fur Tree Skirt, Cheryl added things like the $5 Battery Operated Light Up Mini Lantern, the $5 Battery Operated LED Light Up Pillar Scene, and several different versions of the Tabletop Ceramic Village, which range from $8 to $10.

She also used a $6 Small Ceramic Tabletop Tree, $3 White Poinsettia Clip, and a $6 3 Pack Bottlebrush Trees.

Cheryl had also purchased several star lights from IKEA, including the $9 STRÅLA lamp shade.

While there were some people who said it was too early to decorate for Christmas, with one user even telling Cheryl to "stop it", many were simply excited to see how easy it was to create such a magical scene.

"There’s a reason why we went early this year," Cheryl explained. "Both my husband and I work full time and every year we’re the people that would go shopping two days before Christmas and have to buy everything at double the price or buy whatever is left on the shelves (if anything is left) and I always felt so bad for not creating beautiful little spaces for our son to enjoy.

"I thought if I start early and do bit by bit every weekend or when I have time, I’ll end up with a more completed decorated space comes closer to Christmas… it’s a decision I made last year and was really determined to do from now on. Starting early for us has to do with nothing else but lack of time."

Other users loved the setup and didn't care that it was done in October, with one user saying, "That looks magical!"

"Now I have to do this!" another said, while a third added, "This is so beautiful, I am so inspired!"

"Omg cut this out! Thats so beautiful!" someone else said. "Running to Kmart tomorrow."
