Mum stuns with simple plant pot upcycle: 'Runs to Kmart'

An Australian mum has shared an easy Kmart hack to spruce up your pots, by using an unlikely item.

Sharing on the popular Kmart Hacks and Decor Facebook page, Giana Zotti showed how she’d turned a yoghurt container and cheap pyjamas, retailing for $5, into a beautiful planter pot.

Alongside the photos of the owl print pants and her new creation she wrote: “Stupidly ripped my PJs climbing a fence. So used the material to create this beautiful owl planter pot.”

Detailing her process, she explained how she drilled holes in the bottom of a yoghurt container and then attached the fabric around the outside with spray adhesive.

People were obsessed with the hack, saying that the mum is “so talented” and another writing, “runs to Kmart!”

Some members were slightly skeptical, with one asking: “Won’t the fabric get wet and go yuck?”

Giana replied saying that the holes in the bottom help, and that she’s careful not to wet the fabric when watering. However, some other helpful members of the group pointed out that you can actually place something over the fabric to make it waterproof.

“I use modge podge, but heard PVA glue works also, just water it down a bit first,” one added.

“I’m pretty sure you can get a spray that waterproofs material,” another chimed in.

Others noticed that Giana said she had been climbing the fence in her pyjama pants, and begged her for the full story.

“In what situation did you find yourself in your PJs jumping a fence?” one person asked.

“Cute! But we’re gonna need to hear the rest of that story,” another added.

The mum admitted it was a bit of a funny story, writing: “Trying to cut a short cut. Lol it didn’t work out. I got stuck at the top and could feel them ripping. Right on my butt, almost fell down and too scared to jump. Won’t be making that mistake twice.”
