The Duchess of Sussex is sharing fond memories of her pet beagle, Guy.

On Tuesday, Meghan posted a video tribute to her late dog on Instagram. The emotional montage featured photos and videos of the beagle, who she first adopted from a Canadian dog rescue in 2015.

“He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up…. and fell in love,” Meghan wrote in the caption. As for his unique name, she explained, “They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for.”

The post showed dozens of snaps of Guy, from selfies of Meghan cuddled up with him in bed to Prince Harry playing with the pup. The tribute also included clips of Guy with Pula, Meghan and Harry’s rescue lab who they adopted after getting married in 2018.

“If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him – and on The Tig too,” she said, referring to her old lifestyle blog. “He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mom. He was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort.”

Towards the end of the montage, Meghan shared rare footage of her children — son Archie, five, and daughter Lilibet, three — playing with Guy. One video showed Harry walking alongside son Archie as he held Guy’s lead at a farm. Meanwhile, a separate photo captured Meghan sitting on a blanket outside while holding Lilibet, with Pula and Guy standing close by.

The Instagram post additionally included rare audio clips of the little royals speaking.

“Hey Guy,” one of the Sussex children can be heard saying over a video of Guy settling into blankets. Another video clip captures Guy sitting in the backseat of a car as Harry drives. “He might fall,” Archie says, concerned. “He’s not gonna fall. Don’t you worry, mama has him. Thank you for being such a good boy,” Meghan replies.

Over a clip of Harry walking Guy on the beach, the end of the montage featured audio of one of the Sussex children singing a song dedicated to Guy with Meghan. “Guy, oh yes we do, we love you Guy, and we’ll be true,” the two sing together. “When you’re not near us, we’re blue!”

In the caption, the duchess revealed that we can expect plenty of Guy cameos in her upcoming Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan.

“Because many of you will now see Guy in this new series, I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too,” she wrote. “I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too.”

She concluded the message: “Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”
