Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet joined Meghan Markle's Instagram tribute announcing the death of her rescue beagle, Guy.

On Jan. 7, the Duchess of Sussex used her new Instagram account to announce that her beloved dog Guy had died, and her children appeared in the 90-second video. Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry are raising their son Prince Archie, 5, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 3, outside of the spotlight in Montecito, California, and the kids' cameo in the clip was the first time they were featured on her new social media.

Set to soft music, the Instagram video opened with throwback photos of Meghan, Prince Harry, 40, and Guy, from the couple cuddling the pup to Guy on the mend with his legs in casts and Meghan standing by a tree with Guy at her feet during her pregnancy with Prince Archie. It rolled to show video of the Duchess of Sussex with her rescue beagle, followed by a home footage of one of her kids saying offscreen, "Cheese guy, cheese Guy" as the dog snuggled up in a blanket.

The camera cut to video of Prince Harry and Prince Archie walking Guy and Pula, the family's Labrador. Archie expertly held Guy's leash as the father and son walked to see some mini donkeys behind a fence, and Harry squatted for a closer look.

The next photo showed Meghan and Princess Lilibet on a blanket in the sunshine with the family's three dogs around them — Guy, Pula and Momma Mia. While Meghan adopted Guy in 2015 while she was starring in Suits (and the year before she met Harry!), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex got their other two dogs together — Pula in 2018 and rescue beagle Momma Mia in 2022.

What appeared to be Prince Archie's voice was heard in the next video snippet, filmed from inside a car. There, Prince Harry drove with Pula in the front seat and Guy in the backseat, and it sounded like Meghan chatted with Archie.

"He's going to fall," it sounded like Archie said, as Meghan reassured him, "He's not going to fall, don't you worry. Mama has him. Thank you for being such a good boy."

The footage moved to video of Guy walking on the beach on a leash, as Harry's voice cheered offscreen, "Come on Guy! Good job!"

The emotional montage closed with what sounded like Princess Lilibet and Meghan singing a song about Guy, the tune overlaid with a black slide with white text that read "In Memory of Guy."

"We love you Guy, yes we do. We love you Guy, and we'll be true. When you're not near us, we're blue," they sang as the video closed.

Guy recently appeared in the Sussex family's 2024 holiday card, where he looked up at Princess Lilibet as Prince Harry opened his arms to give his daughter a huge hug. The rescue beagle was also spotted in the new trailer for Meghan's new lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, which premieres on Netflix on Jan. 15.

"In Memory of Guy," the Duchess of Sussex began the caption of the video tribute for her pup. "In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada. He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up … and fell in love. They referred to him as ‘the little guy’ because he was so small and frail, so I named him ‘Guy’. And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for."

In his memoir Spare, published in January 2023, Prince Harry wrote about how Guy came with Meghan when she moved to the U.K. and how the pup fit right into their new rhythm of living together.

"Yes, my intense feelings for Meg spilled over onto anyone or anything she loved, but also I'd wanted a dog for so long, and I'd never been able to have one because I'd been such a nomad," Prince Harry wrote in part, and shared the story of the night they got engaged.
