Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Culinary Pros, According to Mindy Kaling
Apparently Prince Harry "knows his way around a kitchen."
Meghan Markle's trailer for her new Netflix show just dropped a few days ago, and we're already getting some behind-the-scenes insight from the one person lucky enough to make a celebrity cameo: Mindy Kaling. Speaking to a red carpet reporter at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Kaling told Deadline that Markle got in touch while she was on maternity leave last year.
"Meghan texted me and said, 'Hey, do you want to come be in my show and come out to Montecito and have me cook for you?' And I was like, 'Yeah—that sounds perfect,'" Kaling recalled. “'I would love to do that.'”
In the video, Kaling is captured enjoying one of Markle's meals, exclaiming, “this is probably one of the most glamorous moments of my life!"
"I think of myself as kind of an okay cook, and she unsurprisingly kind of blew me out of the water," Kaling explained on the red carpet. "But the thing about her recipes and being there was that it was just really accessible."
As for Prince Harry's cooking? "Harry was there, but he didn't cook for me," Kaling said. "But I heard he's actually a pretty good cook. He knows his way around a kitchen."
Kaling also explained that while Markle makes everything from scratch with the help of her vegetable garden and her chickens, that last part isn't quite so accessible as all the rest. “They would all die if I tried to take care of chickens,” she quipped.
With Love, Meghan premieres on Netflix on January 15, and is just the first of many projects slated to go live this year via Archewell Productions, the production company run by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They wrapped up last year with the release of Polo and made their Netflix debut back in 2022 with the bombshell documentary Harry & Meghan.
