Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen
Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen have been dating since 2022 and share one child together. The 31-year-old has made content on his own TikTok since 2022 and has also been featured in Taylor’s TikTok videos.
In May 2022, Taylor revealed she ended her first marriage with Tate Paul amid the “soft swinging” scandal that rocked MomTok. She later introduced Dakota Mortensen in a TikTok shared in July 2022.
On the show, the couple goes through several ups and downs, from dealing with a miscarriage to the altercation that led to Taylor being charged with aggravated assault in 2023.
During an interview with TODAY published in September 2024, Taylor revealed they are in a "good place” and that Dakota and her ex-husband get along. “They’re buddies, you know, and I’m buddies with (Tate’s) partner,” she told the outlet. “I don’t know if that makes anyone uncomfortable, but that’s OK, because I think it’s part of my story. It’s authentic.”
Breakup rumors between the pair began swirling in September after Taylor posted an Instagram Stories post that alluded to her entering a "new chapter" in her life. She then posted a TikTok on Sept. 21 that said she was "slowly morphing into 2022 me."
Fellow MomTok member Jessi Ngatikaura went on the Scheananigans podcast with Scheana Shay on Sept. 27 and confirmed that Taylor and Dakota were "struggling a little bit right now" in their relationship. Taylor seemingly confirmed that the pair reconciled in an Instagram Stories post shared on Oct. 20.
Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry
Mikayla Matthews and Jace Terry welcomed their first child together when she was 17 years old, and eventually tied the knot when their son Beckham was six months old.
Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE, Mikayla recalled that there were "so many blessings that came from being a young mom," but it wasn't an easy journey.
"That's not to say it was easy, because it was the hardest time of my life," she explained. "I got pregnant when I was 16 and had my son when I was 17. I was having to navigate a really critical time in your life when you're realizing what you want. It's right before you go to college, and you're like, 'What do I want to do with my life?' And then, I was just thrown into motherhood."
"It was rocky," she admitted. "I feel like I backed out for the first year from being pregnant until I had my son. But there were so many blessings from it and I don't feel like I would change anything. I feel like I've learned more. There's more pros than cons."
Since then, the couple have welcomed two more children together, Tommie, 2, and Haven, 4. While Jace does not appear in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Mikayla tells PEOPLE that she hopes he will have more screen time if there is a second season.
“Me and my husband are very witty and playful with each other,” she says. “I think he's the funniest person I know, but he's rarely on the show.”
Layla Taylor
Layla Taylor is the youngest member of MomTok at 23 years old. Layla was previously married to Clayton Wessel and they have two sons together, Oliver and Max. Throughout The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Layla is "newly divorced" and navigates single motherhood and putting herself out there to find someone new.
She told PEOPLE that she’s had “different experiences than the other [moms]” while raising her kids as a single mother.
“Being a young mom to begin with, it kind of forces you to grow up at a young age,” she said. “I feel like I did have a different experience in that way because I didn't have to make sure that certain things were good because I'm just doing it for myself at this point."
Demi and Bret Engemann
Demi and Bret Engemann started dating in 2020 before marrying in March 2021. The couple has a blended family with children from different marriages: Bret has two sons, Rome and Cole, and Demi has one daughter, Maude.
Before Demi married Bret in 2021, she was previously married to her ex-husband Blake Corbin until their divorce in 2020. Meanwhile, Bret is a former football quarterback for Brigham Young University from 1999-2002 and was previously married to Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member Angie Harrington. He was also initially cast in Clare Crowley’s season of The Bachelorette but ended up dropping out of the running before filming began.
In the past, Demi has candidly opened up about their nearly 17-year age gap. In a TikTok series posted in 2023, Demi shared that she knew of her husband when she was 9 years old and he was still “married to his first wife and having babies.”
“If you don’t know, my husband and I are 16 years apart and I knew him through a family friend growing up,” she said in the TikTok video, noting that there has been "controversy" around their relationship as they started dating quickly after her divorce.
Jen and Zac Affleck
Jen and Zac Affeck have been married since June 2019 and share two children.
Throughout the series, Jen and Zac's marriage struggled as he grappled with Jen’s growing fame and her involvement in MomTok.
“It’s so upsetting that he doesn’t believe me, or trust me,” she says in the series. “I would never do anything to jeopardize our marriage, and it makes me sad that he doesn’t feel that way.”
Jen previously told PEOPLE that “it was tricky for me and my husband at first because he was the provider for the first couple of years.”
“It wasn't like he was just making little money — he made great money and he also comes from a very wealthy, traditional family," she continued. “So I think it was very normal for him to be the provider and for me to be at home and be a stay-at-home wife and mother."
At the end of season 1, the couple ends up moving to New York so he can complete medical school.
PEOPLE confirmed back in September that the couple officially sold their home in Orem, Utah. Rumors circulated there was trouble between the couple after Jen did not wear her wedding ring in a TikTok posted on Oct. 9. However, an exclusive source confirmed with PEOPLE that breakup rumors were unfounded and that Jen had previously been spotted without her wedding ring.
The source also confirmed with PEOPLE that the couple are currently filming for the second season of the hit show at their home.
Mayci and Jacob Neely
Mayci and Jacob Neely have been married since 2018 and share a daughter named Harlow, who was born in 2021. Mayci also has a son named Hudson from her former relationship with partner Arik, who tragically died in a car accident before his birth in 2015.
Both Mayci and Jacob are alumni of Brigham Young University and were friends before they became romantically involved. According to Jacob’s LinkedIn, he currently works as a Sales and Finance Consultant at AO2 Management in Salt Lake City.
Whitney and Conner Leavitt
Whitney and Conner Leavitt got married in 2016 and share two children. In The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, she revealed she is pregnant with her third child. While Conner’s day job isn't publicly known, he has made several appearances on Whitney’s social media.
On the show, Whitney and Conner return to Utah after they temporarily moved to Hawaii for two months to “get away” from the MomTok soft-swinging scandal. However, it’s later revealed the reason they left for Hawaii was because of his porn addiction.
In one of the early episodes of the season, Conner speaks about his struggles, saying, "I feel like it flips the script and turns me into a victim when, in this scenario, I'm not."
"I had a real problem and it turned into something that really hurt my wife and I’m so sorry,” he tells her. “I’m working on myself. But yeah, I’ve reached a point where I really don’t care what anybody outside my inner circle thinks.”
On Oct. 24, Whitney and Conner welcomed their third child, a baby boy named Billy Gene, their rep exclusively confirmed to PEOPLE. "We are most excited about having our family complete," Whitney told PEOPLE. "We’ve always wanted three kids and we’re so happy everyone’s here now."
Jessi and Jordan Ngatikaura
Jessi and Jordan Ngatikaura got married in 2020, shortly after the birth of their son Jagger. The couple regularly gives glimpses of their family of five, including daughters Peyton and Jovi.
Jessi and Jordan are both business owners, with Jessi running a hair salon and Jordan working as an entrepreneur. According to his Instagram, Jordan runs the solar panel company NuSun. He also considers himself a “semi-pro cook” and shares his delicious food creations on his “Naughty Kitchen” Instagram account.
