MasterChef viewers completely baffled by major mystery in competition: 'Invisible'

We are several weeks into MasterChef Australia 2024 as a new round of aspiring top chefs battle it out for the grand prize of $250,000. We've seen big-name culinary stars such as Jamie Oliver, Luke Nguyen and Andy's mum drop in for guest judging spots and picked our favourite competitors - from the delightful (and, sadly, eliminated) Juan De La Cruz to the sassy Sav with wit as sharp as her kitchen knives.

In true MasterChef form, there has also been controversy around some judging decisions, discourse over Andy's wardrobe and the usual chatter about how the contestants should be wearing hairnets when they cook. And then there is one talking point that has fans positively scratching their heads - and making plenty of jokes on social media.

That talking point is Sue.

If you just said, "Who is Sue?" then you've echoed the sentiments of other viewers who have deemed Sue the greatest mystery in MasterChef history (I didn't mean for that to rhyme, but here we are.)

"Who is blonde contestant Sue and why do we never see her cooking?" one puzzled fan wrote on X.

"I said the same thing!" someone replied.

"How come we never get to see Sue's food being tasted," another wrote. "She's the invisible contestant."

"Did we see American Josh or Sue in the montages today? Do we EVER see Sue?" someone else wondered.

"Can't wait for Sue's dish - if it even exists," another quipped.

"Sue is the most mysterious contestant in MC history," someone else offered.

Some were more blunt about the enigmatic contestant with one person simply writing "Who's Sue?" while another suggested she was a "local from Bendigo who’s just wandered in."

"Sue and her dishes on #MasterChefAU are as elusive as Sue’s big move on #SurvivorAU," another fan mysteriously wrote.

"I know!!," someone replied. "Sue keeps appearing in the line ups but you never see her cooking or presenting dishes. Why???"

Who is Sue from MasterChef?

While we have not yet been treated to a juicy backstory on Sue, she is a very real contestant on MasterChef 2024 and not a figment of our collective imaginations.

Hailing from Victoria, Sue Bazely is a customer manager and mum of two who has been married to her high school sweetheart for 33 years.

According to the Channel Ten website: "She has special memories of helping her mother tending, harvesting and cooking from their vegetable garden, as well as sharing varied cuisines with their multicultural community."

The site also states that "Sue expects her diverse tastes to be an advantage in the competition, as she is not easily pigeon-holed. She can be a risk-taker in the kitchen, but will back herself all the way, knowing she can rely on her intuition."

So, could Sue end up winning the whole competition in a massive plot twist that no one could have predicted?

Maybe, we'll just have to wait and see - just don't blink, otherwise you may miss it.
