MasterChef Australia brought back its dreaded relay challenge on Wednesday night as the four teams were tasked with creating a dish that showcased heirloom tomatoes. Each cook needed to rely on the team member who had gone before them to give them as much information as possible about the final dish to serve up a cohesive plate.

As you'd expect, there were a few mishaps along the way - notably Harry forgetting to tell David that heirloom tomatoes need to be the hero of the dish and Josh (the American one) starting to cook his team's fish too early. Despite the cooking chaos fans were more fixated on a different detail in the episode and that detail was Andy's pants.

The judge donned a snazzy pair of green pants which were slightly voluminous, sure, but if anyone can pull off such a fashion feat, it's Andy Allen, right?

The savage MasterChef viewers didn't seem to think so.

"Back away Andy - you can't touch that....," one critic wrote on X with a GIF of MC Hammer.

Another got right to the point writing, "Andy with the Hammer pants!"

This one viewer went straight for the jugular asking, "What in Lucifer’s name is Andy fcking wearing???!!!! Ughhhhhh." This post was made even harsher by the addition of several green-faced vomit emojis.

"Andy just needs big red shoes," joked someone else while another quipped, "Andy really DOES have his big boy pants on tonight."

Someone else came to the table with a theory positing, "I’ve worked it out. With the cost of living crisis, Andy’s doing a little shoplifting on the way home. Side of lamb down one pant leg."

"Must be," a fan replied. "There is no other excuse for those awful pantaloons!!!"

Over on Facebook, someone was enjoying the nostalgia writing, "Did anyone notice tonight seems to be the judges “big pants” night? Brought me right back to the '80s."

It wasn't all sartorial savagery though with one viewer saying, "I know it's a cooking show yet I love the outfits of the judges."

It's not the first time poor old Andy has faced the wrath of MasterChef viewers, with several of them taking to social media to share their distaste for him 'eating with his hands.'

Luckily, there were plenty of fans who came to his defence saying that it was nothing to get worked up about.

"I love how he truly relishes every bite," one fan replied.

"Oh really? That really didn’t bother me at all," another said.

Another reasoned, "Fingers were made before knives and forks."

"It is not an isolated incident," someone said in defence of Andy. "We've had George in previous series doing the licking the fingers. I'm sure Jamie will be doing the same. It means that they are loving the dish."

Let's just let the man live, people!!
