MasterChef fans spot hilarious blunder in episode: 'What the hell'
Declan Cleary appeared to have a painful accident as he ran up the stairs to the gantry.
MasterChef fan favourite Declan Cleary suffered a major blunder during Sunday night's episode, despite the fact he wasn't even cooking in the elimination challenge.
The 24-year-old carpenter won the final immunity cook of the season last week and earned his spot in the top four, which meant he could stand on the gantry while the other chefs fought for a place in the finale.
However, as he entered the kitchen with his co-stars and went to walk up to the gantry, it looked like Declan accidentally bumped into a pole.
He may have been distracted by something the judges had said as he looked towards them before colliding with the pole, and quickly covered his mouth in shock before running up the stairs.
The incident certainly didn’t go unnoticed online, with one viewer taking to Twitter to write: “Lol at Declan walking into a pole.”
“I wonder what happened,” another added alongside a laughing emoji.

Fellow contestant Cath Collins, who ended up being sent home during the episode, tells Yahoo Lifestyle she also noticed Declan’s painful accident when watching the episode.
“Yes, I did see that!” she laughs. “I actually had to rewind it. I had a look and I said, 'What the hell did he do there?!'. Oh, he’s a dag.”
'Declan for the win'
Regardless of his poor spatial awareness, Declan is currently the favourite to win this year’s season of MasterChef.
Fans on social media have praised his cooking skills all season long, especially when he won an elimination challenge without playing his immunity pin, and believe he’s the only remaining contestant who “deserves to win”.
“Calling it now, Declan will win MasterChef 2023,” one person tweeted, while another wrote, “I think Declan will win the competition. Just have that feeling”.
“I really want Declan to win,” a third shared, followed by someone else who said. “Declan for the win!”.

“This is the weakest #MasterChefAU I’ve seen tbh. Declan’s the only one that could make top five in any of the previous series,” a different user replied.
“Declan has won this competition regardless of whether he actually wins the title,” another fan commented. “He’s grown so much, and my guess is [he] impressed a bunch of top chefs who would take him on in a heartbeat.”
