MasterChef fans call out 'unhygienic' detail in the show: 'Disgusting'
Social media users have slammed several cast members for being 'unsanitary' in the kitchen.
MasterChef viewers have called out this year’s contestants for being “unhygienic” while cooking for the judges.
Taking to Reddit on Tuesday, one fan shared a post slamming the show for ignoring “basic culinary hygiene” and calling out specific individuals who they believe were being “unsanitary” in the kitchen.
“Brent must never be in a kitchen without a beard net,” they wrote. “If I saw Cath in a kitchen without a hair net, I'd be dining elsewhere.”
The user also criticised Malissa for kneading and hand mixing her dough “with a massive diamond ring on one hand”, and another unnamed contestant who appeared to use the same knife to cut fresh fish and herbs.

Fans quickly took to the comments to share their thoughts on the cast members’ culinary hygiene, with several people agreeing that hair nets aren’t necessary for the MasterChef kitchen.
“You don't wear hair nets at home when cooking. That's more commercial cooking,” one viewer wrote.
“It's not a regular kitchen. MasterChef is a TV show,” another replied.
“So many shows allow their contestants or presenters to wear rings while cooking,” a third added. “I get the reasons why they want to keep wearing them, but it's pretty grim to see when they are getting into breadcrumbs or meat.”
'Disgusting'
Meanwhile, some viewers said they wish this year’s contestants would be more sanitary when tasting their food.
“I'm not calling for hair nets or anything but I do wish contestants would use any of the dozens of spoons provided for tasting, rather than dip their fingers in their sauce/creme anglaise/etc then shove their fingers in their mouth,” one person commented.
“How about telling the contestants to stop using the same spoon to taste?” someone else shared. “I have seen some of them [do] that, which is disgusting in terms of [the] viewing experience.”

The Reddit post comes shortly after fans took to social media to complain about this year’s “underwhelming” season and say it “isn’t up to the same standard” as previous years.
“Can season 15 keep up with the high standard from the past few years?” one person questioned. “We're slightly underwhelmed by dishes cooked this year so far. Anyone else feel the same?”
“Yes I actually feel the same,” a fan replied. “Can't put my finger on why exactly but when I think back to Depinder, Kishwar, Pete, Tommy, Justin all bringing their insane food week after week, I can't help feeling a little disappointed this year so far. Might change still!
“Don't get me wrong, lovely contestants, just not quite there for me yet.”
