Masked Singer fans are convinced they've worked out the first celebrity

This year’s season of The Masked Singer Australia is still weeks away from airing on TV, but fans are already convinced they’ve worked out who one of the celebrities is.

A new trailer for the singing competition features one contestant dressed as a kangaroo, nicknamed Bouncer, as they belt out John Farnham’s You’re The Voice.

Judge Chrissie Swan is seen getting on her feet during the performance, describing the iconic song as “the national anthem”.

“This is a big voice,” fellow guessing panellist Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes remarks. “This is a real, real talent.”

While the video teases that Bouncer might be “the most surprising reveal ever”, fans are certain they know who is behind the mask.

'Pretty obvious'

Social media users have flooded the video’s comments section on Instagram with guesses that the singer is Healing Hands hitmaker, Conrad Sewell.

“That’s Conrad Sewell! I can’t believe we’re all guessing before the premiere,” one person wrote, followed by another who added, “100% Conrad Sewell, even the way he stands”.

“Think it’s pretty obvious it’s Conrad Sewell as I definitely recognise that voice underneath the Kangaroo mask,” a third replied.

“Conrad Sewell!!! Amazing voice omg. Very distinctive, you could tell from the first few notes,” someone else shared.

“I’ll eat my hat if that’s not @conradofficial,” a different user remarked.

Who is Conrad Sewell?

Conrad Sewell is an Australian singer-songwriter best known for his Kygo collaboration Firestone and for winning Song of the Year at the 2015 ARIA Awards with Start Again.

The 35-year-old, who made it to the top 100 on Australian Idol’s second season in 2004, is signed with Sony Music and released his second studio album Precious in March.

Although most fans expect to see Conrad Sewell pop up on their screens when The Masked Singer returns next month, others have guessed that Mitch Tambo, Darren Hayes, Taylor Henderson, or Chris Daughtry is under the mask.
