Masked Singer 2023: First contestant leaks after star spotted in Australia

Filming for the new season is currently underway.

The fifth season of The Masked Singer Australia officially commenced filming in Sydney this month, with Channel 10 going to extreme measures to keep this year’s contestants a secret.

However, it appears their efforts may be wasted on one potential participant, who has recently been sighted in Sydney’s CBD after secretly arriving Down Under.

Yahoo Lifestyle can reveal that Geordie Shore icon and top British reality star Charlotte Crosby has been spotted keeping a very low profile in Sydney over the last week alongside her daughter Alba and partner Jake Ankers.

While Charlotte usually posts daily updates to fans of her various travels, she has been quite secretive about her recent movements on social media which seemingly confirms she’s in Australia for The Masked Singer.

Instead, she posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday night where she is modelling clothes inside what appears to be a hotel room, with various travel bags on display in the background.

Also fuelling speculation is the fact Charlotte is considered Channel 10 talent in Australia after previously starring on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, as well as Geordie Shore streaming on Paramount, which owns Network 10.

Charlotte responds to speculation

This comes after Charlotte was rumoured to appear on the reality show in 2021, but was forced to abandon her Sydney hotel quarantine during the pandemic and return to the UK following a spike in Covid cases at the time which temporarily shut production down.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle in August last year, Charlotte laughed off speculation that she had flown to Australia to compete on the show.

“I saw all the rumours,” she said. “I literally commented back to someone on Twitter saying like, ‘I'm not on The Masked Singer in the slightest’.

“I came over to record my podcast in the studios. It wasn’t The Masked Singer at all or I would’ve still been there!”

She added that she had “plans to return” to Australia in the near future and is always open to reality TV opportunities.

“I would definitely do another show in Australia, it just depends on what type,” she shared. “And especially when I’ve got a little girl, I don't want to be leaving her for too long and I don't want to do a show where I physically have to give my phone over and I can't have any contact with her. I’ll do shows but they will have to be a certain type.”
