Martha Stewart is effortlessly cool for Tory Burch's fashion week show at NY's MoMA
NEW YORK — Martha Stewart at New York Fashion Week? It's a good thing.
The lifestyle mogul sat front row at the Tory Burch show Monday night, looking as cool as ever in a tonal ensemble. For the occasion, Stewart slipped into a mid-tone brown coat with shimmering tiny sequins, a chocolate brown satin look underneath and a pair of dark gold peep-toe pumps.
Stewart, flanked by actresses Amanda Seyfried and Jodie Turner-Smith, commanded attention as cameras surrounded the front row. She was perhaps returning the favor, as Burch attended the New York premiere of Stewart's Netflix documentary "Martha" in October.
Seyfried donned a shimmering white matching skirt set, paired with black accessories and her hair in a chic ponytail. Turner-Smith rocked a belted brown top with gray trousers, yellow snakeskin pointed-toe heels and a merlot-toned purse to match her belt.
Stewart animatedly chatted with Seyfried and Turner-Smith, who jumped up to greet singer Ciara as she arrived. Stewart held her cell phone as Seyfried showed her something on the screen, with Turner-Smith leaning in, listening and reacting, with the energy of a trio that needs to belong together on screen somehow.
Stewart, Seyfried, Ciara and Turner-Smith also huddled together to chat more following the show.
Also sitting front row was "Industry" star Myha'la Herrold, "White Lotus" actress Alexandra Daddario, socialite Ivy Getty and "Saturday Night Live" star Chloe Fineman (and perhaps it was a good thing that Elon Musk's mother Maye didn't walk in this particular fashion show). Former Vice President Kamala Harris' stepdaughter Ella Emhoff walked the runway this time around after attending Burch's show last season.
Burch tends to pull some of the biggest stars for her front row: Just last season, actress and DNC host Mindy Kaling and Olympic bronze-winning gymnast Suni Lee attended the fashion show.
The effortless cool of the front row extended to the venue (the Museum of Modern Art) and the clothing from Burch's fall/winter 2025 collection.
Adriana Lima made her return to the New York Fashion Week runway, having circled back to the catwalk after years for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2024, following her retirement from the runway at the VS show in 2018.
Model Irina Shayk, and Bradley Cooper's ex, also took to the runway a few models after Lima, wearing a tan, collared hourglass jacket with a swishy champagne skirt.
The next generation of models also commanded the catwalk, with Paloma Elsesser and Alex Consani, who made history with her Model of the Year win at the 2024 Fashion Awards as the first trans model to receive the honor.
Burch's eponymous line always skews toward classic, but as has been true of the past few years, she's twisting it into a true renaissance of cool girl fashion.
"Twisted American sportswear," is what Burch calls it in the show notes for the latest collection.
"A second glance at classics: prim cardigans are slashed through the sleeves; sweatpants are knit in Japanese brushed jersey; sweaters are embroidered to look like tweed. A wardrobe collected over time, where each piece becomes irreplaceable: the perfect blazer, a favorite dress, a worn-in sweatshirt. Women are defining 'classic' for themselves," she wrote.
And she did it, conjuring up another collection of incredibly wearable pieces styled immaculately and crafted to stand out and be worn.
Knits are slouchy but perfectly constructed for a woman's body, jackets are nipped in at the waist and layered over A-line skirts and sporty trousers, bag charms and belt charms unite, and tasteful pops of color highlight earthy tones.
For next season, Burch is bringing back the brooch, with pins adorning lapels and dresses throughout the collection, and leather and denim jackets are getting a revamp with a collarless version adorned with pockets galore down the front.
