Makeover of $19 Kmart item becomes instant hit online: 'OMG, I need it'

In what can only be described as the Kmart glow-up of the decade, social media has been wowed by a brilliant hack that transforms the retailer's arched side table into a minimalist masterpiece fit for the pages of Vogue Living.

The internet is in a frenzy over the ingenious transformation shared by home decorator Tiffany Donaldson, known as @homestylebytiff on TikTok. Donaldson took the once $39 side table—now reduced to $19—and worked her magic, turning it into a sleek monochrome marvel that has everyone talking.

Donaldson generously showed off her simple yet effective method for revamping the side table, using only a pot of black chalk paint, also available from Kmart.

Using a simple dish scrubber she effortlessly applied the paint, finishing the project with a clear coat spray for a flawless finish. Best of all, the entire transformation could be achieved for less than $30.

Social media approves

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with comments pouring in from all corners of social media. "Love this," exclaimed one person, while another eagerly declared: "Omg I need it!"

"YEP I'm here for this, I loooooove it," chimed in a third, echoing the sentiments of many who were drawn to the alternative version of the side table.

"This is stunning," praised another commenter, with additional accolades flowing in: "Looks amazing, well done!"

The look was so popular it even prompted individuals to reconsider their entire decorating scheme, as one person candidly admitted: "You're making me reconsider my white aesthetic!"
