Kmart just dropped a $49 dupe of a $350 trench coat: 'I’m so in love'

Kmart has just dropped their Autumn clothing line and one piece in particular is already going viral.

Combining two of the season's staples, everyone’s favourite budget retailer has just launched the must-have item of the year - the denim trench.

The $49 find is currently flying off shelves, but it’s not just the budget price tag attracting shoppers - it’s the fact that shoppers are saying it's a pretty convincing dupe of a $350 version.

Mum of three and fashion Instagrammer Sneza Jovanovic, who runs the style page Mum Style Diary, shared the trendsetting item of the season with her followers after picking it up in-store.

“Kmart has done it again,” she said of the “must have” denim trench before showing off the jacket styles in two ways, one with beige pants, a white t-shirt and runners and the other with a mini skirt, t-shirt and knee-high boots.

She described the trench as “stylish, comfy and on-trend” saying that it can be styled in so many different ways. Some of her favourite looks included a black top and black jeans, a classic white tee and jeans, and wide-leg pants and a tank top.

Dozens of her 169,000 followers agreed that it was a classic capsule wardrobe piece.

“Oh my gosh! That looks so versatile. Love it,” one person commented.

“What a perfect look,” another said with a third saying, “Omg I’m so in love with this trench.”

Another called it “100% an Autumn staple piece”.

Sneza wasn't the only fashion influencer flaunting the coat either, with TikToker @biancaaccurso also sharing the coat with her followers, describing the Kmart trench as “everything”.

Some shoppers said the budget-friendly piece was also a pretty convincing dupe of a $350 version from One Teaspoon and also likened it to the $700 denim trench coat from Camilla and Marc.

“I’m highly influenced after wanting the Camilla and Marc trench. This is solid quality for $49,” one person commented on the trench.

But not everyone was convinced with one of the biggest concerns pointed out by shoppers being the oversized fit.

“I tried it in-store today and found it very oversized and was going to go down a size or two,” one person said of the trench.

“I tried it on. It is huge and heavy. I can't wear it,” another agreed.

Bianca agreed some people may need to size down if they are after a more structured look rather than a more comfortable one.

“It’s quite a relaxed fit so you could size down if you’re wanting a more tailored look,” she confirmed.
