MAFS star takes Jack's side in long-distance debate: 'It's impractical'

Tahnee Cook says she 'hates' to agree with this season's villain but he may be right about one thing.

Homestay week is finally here on Married at First Sight Australia and there’s a lot more to unpack than just luggage! I have to start with how bummed I was during our homestays having to be in Sydney and not go to Perth. There’s always one person from Sydney who is unlucky with this and I’m still not sure how producers decide on which homestay to go to.

For us, I had pretty much already shown Ollie bits of where I lived so it just felt boring for us not to have things changed up. But in hindsight, watching our edit they were pushing the narrative about him moving to Sydney so I guess it made sense why they were trying to show what this could look like.

Lucinda takes a trip to Melbourne to see Timothy in his element but I was gutted we didn’t get to see more of where Lucinda loves in Byron Bay - I’m sure it would have been so magical! Instead, we got to see Tim’s bachelor pad apartment and there is a lot to talk about here. From the industrial photocopier to the blow-up spa? I’m so confused with the vibe he was going for, but I loved the plush toy collection for the doggies.

It was sad to see the breakdown of their relationship during their homestay but I could see at this point how much experiment was taking a toll on Timothy, which somewhat made his reactions make sense. Of course, I'm not discrediting how unfair this was for Lucinda too but at this point, you’ve been away for months in a very high-stress environment and it can cause people to retreat because they have simply had enough of filming.

I felt like that myself during homestays so I can easily imagine the current couples having the same feelings. It was so refreshing to see the progress these two have made in the last few weeks but that feels undone now and I wonder if there’s any turning back.

Another couple we started to see more cracks in was Jayden and Eden. I’m disappointed to see how Jayden keeps throwing Eden under the bus and putting her in anxiety-inducing situations, knowing how much it affects her. It seems unfair and I really feel for her. I was very taken aback by Mitch’s comments about “being controlled by a woman would be me done”. This felt so out of pocket as I see Eden as one of the least controlling people.

We’re seeing scenarios where Jayden has been an instigator of drama and very confrontational which you can also see Eden is uncomfortable with. He’s then frustrated when she’s emotional and voicing her anxieties around this. It just seems like the communication styles are different and she’s trying to be so understanding of him but that isn’t being reciprocated.

Now, for Tori and Jack. I felt really bad for Tori during the interaction with Jack’s friends clients and found it such a red flag how these girls were coming at Tori. It’s just screaming to me that they are in love with Jack. I found Liz to be SO rude and to call Tori 'basic' along with her Melbourne coffee snob comments were just so unnecessary. I personally would not want my husband to be spending much time around people like that. But we do see a breakthrough in their relationship when they are finally intimate - I hated using the word “intimate” so much during the experiment but it just sounds so much more polite than talking about having sex!

I have to say though, I didn’t love Jack’s comments about “the man being the star of the show”. Just... gross. It certainly doesn’t paint a great image of how he views sex. The one thing I will agree with Jack on - although I hate to agree with him on anything - is how it’s impractical it is to fly every weekend to Melbourne / Gold Coast. I do think those concerns are fair and it just makes it clear that he’s not interested in flexing his schedule for Tori.

The boat scene between Sara and Tim was giving me flashbacks to Alyssa and Duncan AND Tamara and Brent. I think we can say that any couple that goes on a boat during homestays is likely going to end up in some sort of argument. I haven’t been buying these two the last few weeks (more from Sara’s side) and I think the key takeout with this is: If trust is broken, it’s extremely hard to build it back up - especially if someone has been hurt in the past with the same issues. It’s not easy and very hard to move forward from.

The final dinner party didn’t disappoint with drama. I remember our season it was every single couple except for Ollie and I fighting at the dinner table. It was just carnage! I feel this year they’ve kept it quite ambiguous which couples will stay together at the end (apart from the spoilers we’ve seen) but there seems to be a conflict with all the couples this year so at this point, anything could happen at final vows!
