MAFS' Harrison Boon's 'secret girlfriend' Abby Miller breaks silence on romance
EXCLUSIVE: Abby Miller spills on her controversial relationship with Harrison ahead of her appearance on Love Island.
She might not have appeared as a participant on this year’s season of Married At First Sight, but Abby Miller definitely made her mark on the controversial social experiment.
The 22-year-old make-up artist, who was also a contestant on The Bachelors earlier this year, found herself in the middle of one of the biggest scandals in MAFS history when she was exposed as Harrison Boon’s ‘secret girlfriend’ in episode one.
Abby’s former friend and Bachelor co-star Jessica Tomlinson was the one who dropped the bombshell at Harrison’s wedding to Bronte Schofield and subsequently leaked the story to the media before it aired on TV.
Speaking about the incident for the very first time publicly, Abby tells Yahoo Lifestyle she had no idea her relationship with Harrison was going to become such a pivotal storyline on MAFS until she saw it being reported about online.
“I didn't know what was happening at the wedding. No one told me, not even Jess told me, so I had no clue what was going on,” she says.
“I was just sitting at home living my normal life until someone came out [in the media] about the first episode and I was like, ‘What?’. And then that's when Jess messaged me and told me and said, ‘I’m so sorry I didn't tell you, this is what happened’. And I was like, ‘Great’.”

Abby reveals she immediately reached out to Harrison, who thought she had “set it all up”, and sent him screenshots of Bronte messaging her asking for details about their relationship.
“I felt kind of bad for her because obviously, I didn't reply, but I didn't reply because I didn't want to be involved,” she explains.
'Just another learning experience'
Abby confirms she and Harrison reunited after filming wrapped and were together “during Christmas and the beginning of January”, but ended things two weeks before MAFS was set to premiere.
“He just fed me [what] I wanted to hear and he said his side and I fell for it, and then I watched it and he probably knew that he was gonna get in s**t with me so he obviously wanted to end it before I could see what was actually true,” she shares.
“It's just another learning experience in a relationship, really.”
While she and Harrison haven’t been in contact since then, Abby says she and Bronte managed to patch things up post-show.
“I have spoken to her since and we’re all good, but I think she handled it pretty well,” she adds. “She stayed probably longer than I thought she should have stayed, but when you're in those situations you're not really thinking that clear.”
Abby's return to reality TV
In what has to be one of the most iconic casting decisions in Australian reality TV history, Abby is set to come face to face with Bronte’s sister Kirra Schofield next week when she enters Love Island as a bombshell.
Abby admits she had “no clue” Kirra would also be a contestant on the dating show but immediately recognised her when she entered the villa.
“I think it was a shock for both of us, but she didn't know that me and Bronte were sweet so obviously she and Bronte don't talk about that sort of stuff,” she details. “It is what it is, we were living together and we couldn't really help the situation.”
Abby explains that although she decided earlier this year she would never do reality TV again following her brief stint on The Bachelors and controversial relationship with Harrison, she applied for Love Island after seeing a casting announcement on Facebook.
“I’d had a couple of wines and applied, I don’t even know what I said, and they obviously knew who I was by the name and the answers I gave,” she shares.
“When I answered the call it was a bit of a laugh and they were like, ‘Are you serious about this or is this a joke to you?’. And I was like, ‘I just wasn’t expecting you to call’. I think it was pure luck for them.”

As for who she’s hoping to meet on Love Island, Abby is open to anyone who isn’t “a 35-year-old narcissist”.
“I mean, Love Island doesn’t normally have anyone over 30,” she adds with a laugh. “I do normally go for older guys but I'm hoping it might change my mind about the younger boys.
“I think it's just a bit of fun, you know, like it's a good experience and you get to meet new people. So that’s all I’m really doing it for.”
Love Island Australia is available to stream for free on 9Now, with episodes dropping daily Monday to Thursday from 6pm AEDT.
