Nine announces new MAFS spin-off show: 'So excited'
"I remember laughing thinking, 'We'll never do this again'."
Resident Married At First Sight relationship expert John Aiken has announced he has a new spin-off show called The MAFS Diaries with John Aiken, where he will take a trip down memory lane and share insights into all the previous ten seasons of the show.
In the first episode, John looked at the first season, which he appeared on with Sabina Read and the late Trisha Stratford in 2015.
"My hair was very high, and my clothes were baggy... we were just rolling up, and nobody had any idea what the look was going to be like," he said, poking fun at himself.
"I remember lying down on the grass after the final episode of the series one, and I remember laughing thinking, 'We'll never do this again'," John shared in the video.

He shared that he was worried the show wouldn't return, given its very unique format.
"There were singing, dancing, cooking and renovation shows, but not many relationship shows," he added. "And, it worked."
In the video, John watched clips of Alex Garner and Zoe Hendrix's relationship over the course of Season 1, with the relationship expert saying, "Immediately there was that attraction and that chemistry, and I thought – this could work. We're onto something here."
Alex and Zoe went on to have their daughter Harper Rose together in 2017, one year after meeting on the show, however, they sadly split in 2018.
Speaking to The Grace Tales in 2020, Zoe shared that becoming parents changed their dynamic and ultimately led to them not working out.

"I was doing a lot more than I thought I would be doing," she said. "In hindsight, I have learned that you don't know who you've married until you have a child."
She added, "Sometimes it's not what you agreed, and it's not how you thought things were going to go."
They have continued to co-parent together, with Alex later welcoming a baby boy with his new partner Jen.
