MAFS' Bronte responds to comparisons between Harrison and Jack: 'My heart sank'
EXCLUSIVE: Bronte also reveals if she sees any similarities between herself and Tori.
From their similar ‘alpha’ personalities to the fact they were both involved in a ‘secret girlfriend’ scandal, Married At First Sight fans can’t help but draw comparisons to this year’s groom Jack Dunkley and former participant Harrison Boon.
Bronte Schofield, who was matched with Harrison during last year’s season of the reality show, has now weighed in on the similarities between Jack and Harrison’s storylines and says it’s “literally copy and paste”.
“I actually see a resemblance between Jack and Harrison looks wise,” she tells Yahoo Australia’s Behind the Edit podcast.
“When all the articles dropped of all the new cast members, obviously everybody jumps on board and you’re looking through. As soon as Jack came up, my heart sank and I was like, ‘Oh this poor woman who gets put with this man. I bet it’s an empath like me, somebody who’s really sensitive’.
“And then I watched it, and Tori [Adams] is just like this badass and I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe she can handle this man and it’ll be okay’. Because I was torn to shreds. I feel a lot, I’m very sensitive, and I think that’s why I had the ‘edit’ that I had.”

Bronte went on to share that she often finds herself putting herself in Tori’s shoes while watching this season and she sees some similarities between them.
“I can see that she wants to stick by him,” she says. “And that’s an attribute of myself that a lot of people were making fun of, but I kind of pride myself on that.
“Just because you’re not seeing all of the relationship doesn’t mean that it’s all bad, and I think that’s something I can relate to because there’s so much more to it than what people see.”
Tori responds to Bronte comparisons
Bronte’s comments come shortly after Tori spoke to Yahoo Lifestyle about her ‘portrayal’ and whether she sees any similarities between herself and Bronte.
“I can understand how Jack's having similarities drawn between him and Harrison, but I don’t see myself like Bronte whatsoever,” she said.
“I'm not a victim, I'm not this helpless, poor sod that needs the nation to stand behind me. I'm great, I'm fine. We're just getting done real dirty with how they’re showing it on TV, and it's really disappointing. But it is what it is, you know, it's TV and I signed up to it.”
Tori added that she’s recently been in contact with Harrison after he posted an Instagram Story questioning why she’s been edited as a “voiceless, hapless victim with nothing to say”.
“He's right, they're making me look like I don't have a voice and it's not fair,” she remarked.
“I think the portrayal of my character has been pretty disappointing. I feel like I come across quite silenced and quite uncomfortable and quite submissive in a way of not being able to speak up. That's not me at all. I am not afraid to speak up, I am quite outspoken and happy to share any thoughts.”
