MAFS' Alyssa stuns in post-show transformation: 'The makeover of the year'
Alyssa Barmonde's signature blonde tresses are gone.
She’s one of the most recognisable stars from the 2023 season of Married At First Sight Australia but Alyssa Barmonde has just had a complete makeover.
The 35-year-old, who became known for her phrase ‘I have a child’ on the show, after she was paired with Duncan James, took to her Instagram account to debut her new bronde look.
Alyssa looked stunning as she showed off her new tresses, with her MAFS co-stars absolutely loving the transformation.
Selina Chhaur said: “Omg I love it”, while Melinda Willis simply commented with three love heart emojis on a carousel of photos posted by Alyssa.
In a subsequent video Alyssa revealed that her hair was in ‘dire need of a change’ before she went to Stuart Garvey hair salon in Surry Hills.

She explained in the video that Stuart removed her previous keratin bonds before highlighting around her face and parting to give an even colour canvas to work from.
Then, Stuart did a root shade so Alyssa’s new colour will grow out more naturally and eliminate any remaining blonde.
This is where Alyssa claims she had to ‘trust the process’ because she has had ‘beachy blonde hair for years’.
A whole new set of hair extensions were then applied in two different colours before they were trimmed to a mid-length style.
“Voila, I’m so obsessed,” Alyssa says in the video.
“I owe Stu my life for the ultimate makeover.”
She captioned the video: “Y’all asked for it! So here it goes- everything @stuartgarveyhair did for the makeover of the year! Obsessed is an understatement.”
MAFS’ Carolina Scimidt commented: “Literally ultimate make over can’t get over this 😍”
Alyssa’s rollercoaster MAFS journey
Alyssa's time on Married At First Sight was anything by plain sailing, with her and her 'husband' Duncan James going through a number of ups and downs.
At the end of the series, Alyssa was left 'absolutely devastated' when Duncan decided to call it quits, claiming they were too different for things to work out.
“I’ve felt emotionally rejected more times than I can remember,” Duncan said at the time.
“Maybe it’s our personalities, maybe it’s our different mindsets. But either way, the gap seems too big to bridge.”
Duncan has since moved on with fellow MAFS 2023 bride Evelyn Ellis, with the pair recently taking their relationship to the next level by moving in together
