MAFS' Al was paid a 'hefty fee' to appear on Love Island

Al Perkins was one of the fan-favourite stars from MAFS this year, and he has recently been spotted filming the fourth season of Channel Nine's Love Island in Mallorca, Spain.

According to Daily Mail, the star received a ‘hefty appearance fee’ to join the cast — even after admitting he would have made an appearance for free.

The publication reported that Al’s management stepped in to negotiate on his behalf.

“Al was able to secure a one-off four-figure sum to add that star-power to the show,” their source said.

“He was desperate to get on and said yes the second he was offered. It’s a dream come true for him, he would be ecstatic [that he got on the show].”

In addition to the one-off sum, the star will also receive ‘a fee of $500 per week’ while he’s on the show.

Contestants are also paid a daily rate of approximately $1000, to cover any in-store or event appearances.

Al has the potential to earn even more, as all the cast members are allowed to keep any money they make for sponsored content opportunities while in the villa.

With the MAFS star having such a big following, it’s the perfect way for him to keep growing his platform and fanbase.

MAFS’ Samantha ‘confused’ by Al’s move

This comes after Al’s ex Samantha Moitzi addressed his new role.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Samantha said that although she is “definitely not annoyed” her ex was going on Love Island, she admitted to feeling “a little bit confused” by the timing.

“We’re actually not allowed to apply for any reality TV shows for like, over a year of the last episode airing, so that’s quite a long way away,” she shared.

“But I guess because Love Island’s a Channel Nine production, maybe he got special allowance for that? I’m not sure.”

The 26-year-old went on to say that she was “super happy” for Al and the fact he was getting opportunities like this after MAFS.

“I think he’s going to love Love Island,” she continued. “I mean, he loves a tan, he loves getting his shirt off, he loves the boys, he loves pretty women in bikinis. So like, why would he not have the best time?

“Honestly, I hope he finds love. I do.”
