The pair, who repeatedly butted heads on this year’s season of the reality show, are set to go head to head in a boxing match at the Melbourne Pavilion on October 15.
In an attempt to promote the fight on Tuesday, Daniel shared a black and white photo of Brent on his Instagram Story in the style of a death announcement.
“Celebrating the life of Brent Vitiello. 20.01.1988 to 15.10.2022,” the poster read, referencing the date they are set to face off.
Social media users quickly slammed the post as “disgusting” and “offensive”, with many saying that Daniel had taken things too far.
"Wishing death on someone is the lowest of the low,” one person wrote on Facebook, while another added, “This is so wrong”.
Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle about the controversial post, Brent labelled it as a “silly attempt at attention”.
“I didn’t think there could be a human more cringe until I saw the way this guy moves. It’s embarrassing,” he shared.
“I’ll never entertain someone as low as him. This boxing match is for me. But after, both his name and his antics will disappear.”
The 33-year-old went on to say that while the post is “worrying”, he’s feeling “a little bit flattered at the same time”.
“I also wonder how many photos he has of me in his camera roll? Maybe even a mural at home?” he joked. “He’s obsessed. It’s cute.”
Brent’s relationship update
Brent’s comments come shortly after he and his new girlfriend, Australian model Taylor Davey, told Yahoo Lifestyle that they almost got married during a recent trip to Las Vegas.
The pair explained that they had had a few close encounters at Eros Sydney and the Sydney airport before connecting on social media and meeting up for the first time in Las Vegas.
“She told me Vegas was amazing and said we should head there to catch up,” Brent recalled. “I then looked at the boys and said, ‘This is going to be a real love story, I can feel it. Just watch’. So we all went to Vegas… and it was a love story.”
“We almost got married in Vegas!” she said. “After three days together we just said to the driver, ‘Take us to a chapel!’”
“But I fell asleep before we got there!” Brent added with a laugh. “We would have really got married if I didn’t fall asleep.”
