Yahoo Lifestyle Macaulay Culkin & Brenda Song's Son Has a Hot Take on 'Home Alone'
It's been over three decades since Home Alone first came out, and fans old and new love the now-classic Christmas movie. Even the movie's star Macaulay Culkin and his fiancée Brenda Song love it — and their oldest son Dakota has some adorable feelings about the personal family connection.
The longtime couple graced the cover of Cosmopolitan's Love Issue on January 27, and they talked about family traditions they share with Dakota and his younger brother Carson (Macaulay and Brenda welcomed Dakota in April 2021, with Carson completing their family in December 2022). When the subject of Home Alone came up, Brenda shared how Dakota adorably relates to his dad portraying the main character. She revealed the family has watched the comedy for the last two Christmases, and Dakota had a hilarious reaction to seeing his dad as a young actor on screen.
"Dakota thinks that he's Kevin McCallister," Brenda told Cosmo. "Mack will jokingly ask, 'Do you remember you did that scene?' And he goes, 'Yeah!'"
Well, that's definitely an unexpected reaction to finding out your dad was in one of the most popular Christmas movies ever! But that wasn't all Brenda and Macaulay shared about Dakota's connection to Home Alone.
As Macaulay also noted, Dakota "remembers" how he once had blonde hair to play Kevin in the movie — which has his parents cracking up.
"He's like, 'Yep, I do,'" Macaulay added about their son's obsession with Home Alone. "Boy, I'm raising a liar," he joked.
Dakota may be on to something when it comes to recognizing family in Home Alone.
While Macaulay famously portrayed the lead role, folks may remember his brother (and 2025 Oscar nominee) Kieran Culkin was also featured in the movie. He played Kevin's youngest cousin Fuller, and he can be seen in the beginning of the movie ahead of the shenanigans taking place for Kevin.
Needless to say, we're obsessed with Home Alone — and how Dakota Culkin feels about "starring" in it.
