Love Island star stuns viewers with bizarre banana act on TV: 'Woah'

A contestant on Love Island Australia has left viewers stunned after she swallowed a whole banana in just a few seconds during a Sports Day Challenge.

Maddy Gillibanks, a 26-year-old HR advisor from Perth, was paired with TikTok rapper Tak Chipangura in the challenge where the men had to lie on the ground with their legs in the air.

The women then had to run over to their partners and quickly eat a banana held between their feet, which Maddy managed to accomplish in one single gulp.

Her co-stars were clearly shocked by the act, including Austen Bugeja who said: “There was a banana there, and just one gulp it’s gone, that’s it! It just left and I was like, ‘What the hell?’.”

Stella Hutcheon added: “Maddy was awesome at that [challenge]. She just inhaled it and I was like, ‘Woah’.”

“There’s something wrong and I think she should go to the doctor,” Phoebe Spiller joked.

The clip has since been shared on TikTok and has racked up over 8.4 million views and thousands of comments.

“HOW DID SHE SWALLOW THAT AND NOT CHOKE?” one person wrote, followed by another who said, “Not possible”.

“Lord have mercy,” a third remarked, while someone else shared, “My jaw dropped”.

Bachelor star enters Love Island

This year’s season of Love Island Australia has featured plenty of drama and wild moments, as well as a few familiar faces.

In addition to the arrival of Married At First Sight star Al Perkins, former Bachelor contestant Vakoo Kauapirura entered the villa this week.

The 27-year-old model first appeared on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor alongside Abbie Chatfield, Elly Miles and Jessica Brody, and was eliminated in week three.

“I don’t really care that much about upsetting someone,” she said upon her entry. “I’m not here for Friend Island, I’m here for Love Island and I’m going to take what’s mine.”
