The surprising MAFS stars who did (and didn't) nab a Logies invite
Nothing captivated TV audience like this year’s drama-filled MAFS season, but not even the cult following could secure certain participants a spot at TV’s night of nights.
Reports have emerged that certain cast members will not be strutting down the Logies red carpet, having missed out on an invite to the lush event.
The ultimate snub, a report from news.com.au claims that Ines Basic and Jess Power are two contestants who missed out on an invite, while eight other couples and exes nabbed themselves a spot.
Contestants invited include the only surviving couples Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli, and everyone’s favourites Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant.
Heidi Latcham, Nic Jovanovic, Elizabeth Sobinoff and Mike Gunner reportedly got a gig, leaving many concluding the show’s ‘villains’ were purposely looked over.
Those who were passed over include both cheating couples Jess Power and Dan Webb, and Ines Basic and Sam Ball.
Some of the show’s biggest drama-makers, many were shocked that Ines and Jess didn’t get a look in, but at least one of the two says she was expecting it.
Jess told The Daily Mail that the snub came as no surprise.
“I actually didn't expect an invite. I'm so controversial and enjoy a little trouble so I would probably cause a stir,” she said.
Ines Basic has been contacted for comment, but is reportedly ‘reeling’ from the snub.
It looks like the contestant’s behaviour on the show, rather than their contributions to ratings, was of higher priority to this year’s invitation decision making.
Re-iterating that theory is the fact that Cyrell Jiminez-Paule was also passed over.
Famous for her ability to escalate any given situation with a few fiery words or actions, it seems that she’s another contestant producers would be concerned about attending the event.
Perhaps the most surprising snub was almost-couple, Ning Surasiang and Mike Gould.
The couple made it through to the show’s final episode before Mike decided to call it quits, but not even their long run (in MAFS years) got them over the line.
Last year’s Logies had the same amount of invites allocated to the cast, but after this year’s juggernaut season, many were expecting a stronger presence.
If history has taught us anything it’s that we can expect to hear from the snubbed cast mates soon enough.
