Perry shares her child with ex-wife Sara Gilbert
Linda Perry is one proud parent.
The musician, 59, appeared on The Allison Hagendorf Show and spoke about her 9-year-old child Rhodes, whom she shares with ex-wife Sara Gilbert. When asked what she hopes Rhodes learns from her, Perry said she can already see what she's learned.
“Oh I see it. I see it. She’s amazing. She’s a fantastic child," Perry raved. "How kind she is, how considerate, how passionate, how much compassion. She’s very vibrant. She’s on a frequency I don’t even…it’s crazy. Her frequency."

"But she’s so creative and she feels loved and I can see it. I know I’m a great parent. And Sara is a great parent. And I know together we are raising a very balanced child," she continued.
"Now is she a little diva at times, because she’s going to be a star. She’s going to be a star. Our job right now is to balance that out, to make sure, keep her grounded."
Perry went on to say that she tries to support Rhodes in whatever way she can, including building sets for plays that Rhodes writes. "I will do everything possible to support that, always," she affirmed.
In June, Perry spoke with PEOPLE ahead of the release of her documentary film Linda Perry: Let It Die Here and shared that Rhodes is a part of everything she does.
“If it were up to me, the whole documentary would be about Rhodes because I think what an incredibly fascinating character Rhodes is, and I don't want people to think that, oh, it was a one-time thing that particular day,” Perry explained to PEOPLE of a scene in the film in which Rhodes joins her at work. “Rhodes comes to the studio all the time and is a part of everything that I do.”
The songwriter noted that the two have a very open and honest relationship, and spending time in the studio together has only strengthened their bond.
“It's extremely important that my child understands where I come from and who I am and how much work it takes to be an actual healthy human being in this world,” she explained.
“And so I'm always teaching and hoping they thrive in life, but it's important to know, ‘Oh, this is where I came from.’ So we have a lot of really awesome talks that I'm so proud of that I can be that type of parent.”
